Overall stay was good with amazing view and food was amazing

I got daily calls for payment while the payment was done 10 days before check in It was not managed well and secondly booking.com until the day of booking showed me I have not paid. Secondly in the bathroom shower - water was getting collected and there is an area for improvements

Lots of potential, but disappointing...

The room was beautiful: very spacious, with a super comfy, large and clean bed. A modern bathroom, with free toiletries... Facilities were great too. A nicely decorated common area where you can play pool and table tennis... In this beautiful and quiet part of the Himalayas, populated with by friendly locals, I expected it to be a relaxing stay. Saurub - the manager - was polite, friendly and helpful. So was all the staff at the restaurant (Nitin etc.) The rest of the staff was okay. All male, though. No women. Maybe incidentally, the receptionists were very friendly when I first visited the place - two days before checking in - then seem to completely ignore me after they saw the age on my passport :-) But one of their friends gave me a lift to the property before I moved in and he let me rent a scooter from him, which was helpful.

Ongoing noise was an issue. There was lots of late night drinking in the garden, under the guests' windows (every night, unless it rained). People shouting, loud music being played way past midnight (despite signs displayed everywhere saying the above was strictly forbidden). Maybe that's the concept of a 'hostel' in India. I was in another hostel nearby before and there were similar issues. Personally, I needed to sleep because I was getting up early every day, so that completely ruined my stay. The whole place felt quite neglected, as far as cleaning was concerned: communal areas, like the stairs and swimming pool's surroundings, didn't seem to be regularly cleaned. There was some trash (including, a mattress) in the corridor for 2-3 days... At times, in the garden, lots of empty bottles and dirty dishes were left on the grass for hours in the morning. The cleanness of my bedroom was far from satisfactory. I noticed the floor was dirty when I checked in - the sole of my socks turned brown instantly - so I asked if the cleaners could come back. They did and mopped the floor again, but it was still dirty. The bathroom wasn't properly cleaned either (e.g. dirty sink). It was felt like there was a general lack of care and attention, maybe because there was no female staff to bring a sensitive touch. Access to the location: the road to get there (off the main road) was bad, but locals were trying to fix so it may be better now. The receptionist who led me to my room didn't offer once to help me carry my big suitcase, even when I was struggling to drag it across the garden or carry it up the stairs. Their policy says: "We believe in self-help, so you take care of your luggage". I get the idea, but they may want to consider the value of landing a hand to someone who needs it sometimes, just to be nice.

Very dirty for no reason. Lazy cleaning staff

The receptionist was friendly. The wifi is good. Those are the only positive things.

The bathrooms were especially dirty. Looks like they never get cleaned. The property is new, so there are a lot of nice features but theyre already turning to crap because nobody takes care of them. I thought the location would be great, but it was honestly not peaceful at all. Its so sad to see such a great property being taken care of so poorly. They need much better management and to stop treating this place like a frat house.

Amazon place with good hosts/staff and at a beautiful location with a view and all amenities

Hospitality, cleanliness, services all were good.

Location is still a little unreachable as the roads to reach arent that good as of now but the property is worth all the hassle and a very beautiful location.

Was welcomed by very inviting staff. Abhishek was really a very good host and the community manager Anush was a great guy to hang out with and took us to the great places around Rishikesh, didn't felt for a while that I am traveling solo. I will definitely recommend you to visit here as it serves as a perfect place as a base to travel and explore around. Their food was amazing, rooms and bathroom are clean all and all a great property to stay at.

There was no power backup. After repeated requests the genser for not switched on. We had to tell them to switch on the genser in middle of night.

I had a great time with great food and amazing location barring the bad behaviour of front desk

The cafe food was great plus the location was amazing! Moreover, there weren't many guests at the property which made it even better. The suite and the pool were exactly as shown in the pictures!

The front desk staff was very disappointing. I have often been to Zostel at different locations, but the front desk staff was rude and stuck up. I have never experienced this before! I booked the suite for my birthday and only decorated it with a "happy birthday" balloon. We made sure that we use wall tapes which do not affect the wall and take extra care of not spilling anything. In the morning the front desk guy made unacceptable discriminative comments about people from Haryana littering and leaving it in bad condition. except for the ballon, there wasn't anything out of the ordinary left in the room given that the room had seen a birthday party the night before. I was really embarrassed for my guests due to the front desk guy's behaviour and bad attitude which was uncalled for. It could have been cascaded in a better way. So much room for improvement in the training and the selection process for the people Zostel hires. I have to reiterate that I have never seen such bad handling and poor customer service at any other Zostel location.
