The Village Resort & Spa - SHA Plus

- Staff was friendly and helpful. They provided us with a mattress topper for no extra charge to help us with how firm the bed was. - Room and bathroom were really spacious. We had no problem storing our 2 big luggage in there. - Location is good and bad. It's located on the outskirts of Karon, so you have to walk like 10 minutes to access the northern side of Karon and the beach. But at least you're a bit protected from the city noises. But if you just need water, it's a bit of a walk just to get some at the nearest shop, which can be annoying. - They have free protected parking spots if you're travelling with a rental car, convenient.

- Only the appearance of luxe, but if you look at the details it wasn't at all. We were kinda shocked by the vibe difference between the photos and the actual place. Don't be fooled by the pictures like we did. No fancy material used anywhere, paint jobs are meh, furniture in the room look solid but not great, the lounge chair around the pool weren't great, no parasol to create shade at the tables around the pools, raw concrete that look like it need some care all around the pool, the jacuzzi looked tired, the men's toilets next to the pool were filthy, one morning there was a trash plastic bag next to the pool for the whole time we were there that wasn't picked-up, and I could go on and on with examples. - They only provided 1 key for 2 persons despite us asking for another one. They do that on purpose to prevent you from putting on the aircon while you're not in the room. At that price point, I would not have expected cheap moves like this. - The garden needs a more regular maintenance. It was always layered with leaves everywhere, some areas were just dirt without any grass, there was a sewer around our room the first night until they sent someone to clear dirt from some water canal passing in front of it. Not great. - We thought we would get an individual bungalow, but we actually shared a wall with another room. Only the one by the pool were free standing. - The place was invaded with mosquitoes. We couldn't use the front of our room because of it. They provided a device for them inside room fortunately. - The bed was rock solid, to the point where it actually hurt after the first night. Fortunately, they were able to provide us with a topper, otherwise we would have to move to another hotel! - Prices for the spa were absurdly high! It was literally 4x higher than anything you could find in town, ridiculous.
