A little gem.

What a lovely little gem of a house this is, now wonder then that it is regularly booked up. Communication from Alice and Matthew was straight out of the top drawer. From booking confirmation to the required directions and check-in instructions to a welcome message and even checking in to make sure that everything was OK. The house is beautiful, warm, cosy, very clean, and tidy. Not a speck of dust to be seen anywhere. Everything you need is there for you. From cooking facilities to bathroom toiletries and posh shampoo too. If you drive a sherman tank, leave it parked on the street as you won't get it through the alleyway. If you drive a small corned beef tin on wheels, then you'll be fine parking in front of the house. York can be a pain for parking, but have no fear. There is a bus stop less than 5 minutes walk from the house. The number 11 bus takes you straight into the city centre and is close to The Shambles. Currently (10th December), you can get a return bus ticket for 8. If you need somewhere that is warm, cosy, and in a quiet place, then The Old Forge is where you need to be. It's just delightful.

Location was 30 min walk from town centre Great central heating

Stains/marks on carpets and walls, furniture ripped and old, house smelled, unable to use the oven due to it being so filthy and smelly. Was not confident it was clean.

The house is warm and cosy. Everything you need is there for you to use. Matthew and his family gave us perfect instructions for finding the house and for the WiFi and other little bits. They are great at communicating and making sure you are happy and comfortable.

Nothing to dislike from our perspective.

Lovely home for a family of 4

Walking distance to all sites, fantastic shops and cafes nearby for breakfast. Warm house with comfortable beds, all amenities provided with tea and coffee

Shower screen too short so water spilling out onto floor and toilet. No window in bathroom so mould growing on ceiling and paint peeling Parking had to be on the main roads as the drive up to the house is very narrow especially for bigger cars.

Cleaners were still there at arrival time and had to wait to access accommodation - arrived at agreed time. Tumble dryer was on and was still on several hours later - had to turn off due to noise/heat created

Self catering so no breakfast. There was plenty of space in the property. We had all the facilities we needed. The internet was good. The garden would be a bonus if you had children. We had a great time and the property was ideal for us.

The property was on a very narrow cul de sac with the parking space on it. We were ok because our car is medium sized, but if your car was any bigger you would not be able to park or get to the parking space. It was a bit nerve wracking getting in and out. The hob was excellent once you could get it to work. There were some marks on the carpet where other people had walked mud in. A door mat might be a good idea.
