We were disappointed but it was quickly changed by good staff who solved our problem

Room was smelling of dogs but you quickly changed us to another room which was more than satisfactory.

The hotel has a nice interior an views, front desk staff were very polite

We asked for a corona at the bar, 3 members of staff looked in the same fridge and said there were none, we chose another drink. We went to the restaurant and put in our order, staff came back to say they were out of one meal we had ordered, we chose another. I ordered a bottle of wine to be presented with a different kind, we raised with the staff and it was rectified. We were then served with our meals, I got very upset at the steak pie meal. This was unlike any restaurant quality steak pie I have ever been served in Scotland. It was more of a frozen machine made steak pie, reheated to be served. I raised with the staff, the supervisor was really unhelpful, all the staff were not on there best game. I get it, the week between Christmas and New year when your working can be tough. The only saving grace your staff had, was a colleague by the name of Paul, who has spoken to myself & partner with a level of customer service I had yet to see in smiths up to that point. He listened to everything that had happened over out dinning experience, including the lack of corona beer, he looked shocked then proceeded to retrieve corona's from a different bar within the hotel. I strongly suggest some training in customer service for the whole bar/restaurant team.

The location near the Blacksmiths venue. Spacious bedroom. Good food in the restaurant.

Daughters wedding

We stayed at Smiths as my daughter got married.

There was nothing to fault. Only thing I can say is one of the reception staff wasn't up to date with the wedding day meal. Left a bit of confusion for a little while.

The perfect overnight stop on our way north.

We had dinner in the hotel which was excellent, the food was lovely, the staff were efficient and helpful. We had breakfast in the morning which was a buffet and perfect for us as we needed to eat and then get on the road again. All the staff we encountered on our visit were pleasant, kind, helpful and hard working.

The room was a little tired, but clean and comfortable.
