HOW DO YOU TURN A RED LION INTO A WHITE ELEPHANT?

Location, staff, value for money.

I had paid for breakfast, but there was no chef and I had to go to a local cafe. No refund was offered. The hotel bar was closed when I returned from dinner. My room (7) was freezing cold and the heating didn't work. This hotel, which I have been using for years, seems to stagger from crisis to crisis. It needs investment, and a GM with vision and purpose.

Weekend stay

We had one of the superior rooms, the bed was king sized and really comfortable. The hotel has a good town centre location with shops and restaurants close by.

There was a party at the hotel, which we had been warned about. The music was loud and could have been turned down a bit. The disco music ended at 11.00 and we were able to sleep after that.
