The Pearl Grand By Rathna in Colombo received positive reviews from guests who praised the hospitable and helpful staff, clean rooms, delicious food at the hotel restaurant, and the rooftop bar with (Read More)a sea view. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of restaurants and shopping, and is a 5-minute walk from the beach. Although the rooms were described as small, they were considered cozy for couples. Overall, guests had a enjoyable and memorable stay at the Pearl Grand.

Exceptional

I was welcomed by the whole staff. My flight arrived early and they rushed through a room clean up and had me installed in a room two hours before check in time. The staff here are exceptional. From the bell hops, the reception staff, the cafe staff, the waiters, bar staff, housekeeping , and chefs really looked out for my needs and wants. They always greeted me with a smile. The facilities are great with room service, pool and the sky bar as extras that cost no extra. They had a cleaning service that was quick and professional.

The only thing I did not like was that I could not stay longer. Seriously though I did not have any problems with the Hotel

The room type does not match the picture at all. The bed sheets were not changed after entering. A very unpleasant check-in experience.

It was terrible.There are no bathrobes, slippers, there is only 1 shower gel and 1 shampoo, 1 soap in the room. the bedside table is split, there are almost no napkins in the package. the bar is empty, besides there is no indication of the Wi-Fi password anywhere. the water turned cold after 5 minutes

Superb

Good stay in Colombo

We stayed in pearl grand on our last day of Srilanka trip ! Area is good and we can reach all main attractions with in 4-5 kms area! We were upgraded to a suite room which was excellent ! The staff are very excellent and smiling always ! Breakfast was good !

We ordered dinner to Room and it was not to our liking! Any way that is not an issue !

Disappointing

Good location. And the staff were gracious and helped me recover some personal items I had left behind in my haste to check out of this hotel.

The photos on the website did NOT match reality. Its maybe a personal view, but I found the room small and cramped and I found it difficult to stay there. It looked tired and not as clean as I would have liked. I actually checked out after one night although I had paid for four. The hotel said they could not refund me. Despite this I could not stay there. Definitely not the hotel for me. I rank it the lowest hotel out of six I stayed in as we toured Sri Lanka.

Good

Very good hotel. The male receptionist (whose name I have forgotten sadly) was superb. He did everything to make sure the stay was good, even relocating me on the top floor. The hotel is a decent 4 star hotel and has high standards

I had numerous problems with WiFi which were not resolved despite complaining at least 6 times (I needed WiFi to work). It was the same receptionist who sorted out a new router. Compare him to the managing director who said he would come to see me within 'ten minutes '. I never saw him, so if the man at the top can't be bothered with customers, why should the other staff care?

Courteous and helpful staff, good restaurant, but less than average room quality.

Breakfast was high quality with variety to satisfy different palates and preferences. The staff was very courteous. Lobby was spacious and the hotel made arrangements for airport transfer and late checkout (for an additional charge).

The shower in the bathroom. Very slippery floor and they had no anti-skid mat, which required me to put a towel on the floor so I could at least stand while showering. Had to be real careful. The response time between hot/cold water is high. Bathroom amenities were meager. The internet was very slow and I had a very difficult time working. The desk chair has no wheels so on the carpet, you had to lift the chair, which was heavy. They have no US plug receptacles, nor USB ports.
