I would stay here again when going to Chumbe Island.

Beautiful water-view room right next to the beach and pool (ground floor with a private patio). Gorgeous on-site ruins to explore with your camera! Great restaurant. Cocktails and beer are good, but expensive, even for Zanzibar. All staff was amazing, and I got a deep-tissue massage on-site that was EXCELLENT!

The reviews made this much worse than what I experienced. I almost didn't stay here, but I was being picked up by a boat for Chumbe Island directly on this beach. It didn't make sense to stay anywhere else, and other places were even more expensive. Yes, the room is dated and in need of repair and updates. They are charging too much for the room's current condition. But it's still a nice place to stay, especially if you're getting the boat to Chumbe Island. I stayed for 2 nights before my boat pickup, and am glad that I did. Other women who went to Chumbe on the same boat were coming from a hotel in Stone Town, which was very stressful for them.

Superb

A jungle paradise

I was initially hesitant due to some of the reviews but we had a lovely stay and could find very little to complain about. Yes a little TLC needed here and there but overall it's a gorgeous setting. Rooms were spacious and clean with a charming outdoor terrace for the evenings (rooms with a view), AC was artic, beds super comfy. The gardens are stunning and the ruins (on-site) atmospheric - it does merit the name Jungle Paradise. All staff from reception (City and Khaled) to restaurant (especially Herriet) were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We also had a lovely meal (steak and shrimp linguine) in the upstairs restaurant which was one of the best we had in Zanzibar and we didn't find it took expensive compared to other hotel restaurants. Breakfast was ample and tasty - perfect poached eggs are always a good sign. We also loved to see how well the hotel dog (lovely Berry) and cats were treated. Being 10 mins drive to Stone Town and 15 mins to airport, this is an ideal stop for 1-2 nights for access to Stone Town, airport and Chumbe Island.

The official photos of the beach and pool match don't match reality - the pool is quite small and the beach muddy in low tide. Still perfectly pleasant for an overnight stay. As someone has mentioned the peer has been out of bounds for some time - the hotel needs to update the photos on booking.com to truly reflect the location. Our shower didn't drain properly but not a major issue. Pillows desperately need to be replaced to match the quality of the mattress.

Good but not great.

Hotel outside area was nice, restaurant was pretty in evenings (needed more lighting at restaurant). Beach was nice but didnt look like pictures on Booking.com. Comfy loungers. Large bed and spacious room. Aircon and Wi-Fi worked well. Hotel was close to airport and 10 min drive from stone town. Locals were nice on the beach. The cats were super friendly and looked like they were looked after. Pool was nice. Manager asked us for our opinion on hotel before leaving and listened to our considerations which was nice.

There was no beach bar like pictured on booking.com. Beach area was supposed to be private but random people took up sun loungers and loungers were limited. No entertainment in evenings which made it very boring. Food was quite expensive for what it was and also compared to other hotels and stone town restaurants. Lunch and dinner menu was the same and options very limited and quite bland. I think a separate lunch menu is needed. Hotel is not near any activities or restaurants. Activities provided by the hotel are very expensive, cheaper to purchase by a local on the beach. Hotel room was basic but we didnt have a safe and had to ask numerous times to get replacement towels. More lighting needs to be added at the restaurant and there was lots of power cuts espically when waiting for dinner.

Disappointing

the location is near the town, which is good.

the wireless signal was so bad and was disconnected every 5 minutes, and we were in room number 1, so it was the closest to the reception. the room service was not good. we asked for a Thick blanket and they didn't bring any for us. the restaurant took 1 hour to deliver the food to us, and we were the only two who ordered the food. the check out was at 11 AM and we got late for 30 minutes and checked out at 11:30 AM and they charged us 60 $ for being late check out. there is no reception number, some one gave us a person's WhatsApp and told us this is the reception number but they didn't answer any message we sent to them.

Quiet and relaxing

It was close to the airport which is why I booked it. Room was clean and spacious. Nice setting

There was nothing else around (in walking distance) so the restaurant on site was the only choice.

Disappointing

So much potential, but...

Service and location we're great.

Full of mosquitoes, left the sign on the door to do laundry and clean the room but it was not done. Food and drinks very overpriced...$6 for a $1 local beer is ridiculous.
