Grand Margherita Hotel

Customer service and cleanliness was very poor to nonchalant e.g. (1) on first arrival, I found the hotel room safe locked. I made 3 calls to customer service between 7.00-7.30pm to get it unlocked, no-one showed up and in frustration I went down to Reception and was told by the Duty Manager himself that yes, he was aware but the man with the master key to the safe had just gone for his dinner first and could I wait! Obviously his dinner took precedence over customer service - it would only have taken a few minutes to unlock the safe! I was not prepared to spend my first night in town waiting for an unspecified time for this man to finish dinner and had no choice but to carry all my valuables with me into town. (2) there were no hand towels or face flannels provided; I did not get any response to my polite request apart from the usual acknowledgement, no-one showed up. However they were placed in the bathroom the following evening on the return from a day out (3) on return from another day out, there were no toilet rolls and no box of tissues in the bathroom! I knew there was one full toilet roll and one nearly full tissue box before I left that morning. I rang the duty manager and demanded to have these ASAP. Instead of apologising, he actually laughed but sent someone within five minutes. Cleanliness was very suspect, there was some rubbish by the window curtains that was evident on the first day and throughout my six nights that was never cleared. The bed was never made up properly, cushions for the bed were still scattered on the side chairs where I had put them, the cups on the hospitality tray were never cleaned, the bathroom didn't appear clean either. There was mould and rust around the bath edge, the shower was over the bath (in a 4 star hotel!) the shower hose had rust and the bath plug was propped up with a plastic bottle cap to allow drainage.
