Exceptional

I appreciated everything about my two-night stay at Edgar Guesthouse, and will most certainly return when I am in Gent again. The room was very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The refined and minimalist style, beautiful wooden furniture, and natural-toned textiles (and fine quality bedsheets, etc) give one a feeling of mental calm (and of being on holiday). Their restaurant around the corner, Edgar kaasbar, has a lovely selection of food and drinks. And I would recommend the Edgars breakfast basket. Also, the location is perfect! Very near to the Gent-Dampoort station and you can walk to everything from the guesthouse. Tip-top!

Exceptional

Wonderful and cozy boutique hotel in the heart of Ghent.

Excellent location in the middle of everything. Exceptionally walkable, great amenities and excellent recommendations for local spots from the owners.

My room was on the 4th floor and it was a walk-up; I had a very heavy suitcase and it was difficult to manage. Wish I got a heads up about this in advance. There was also no fitness center as it was a house; wish I had known that as I packed workout clothing.

Great location but disappointing stay.

Clean. Good location. Beds comfortable

Beds so heavy/fixed to floor that could not move. They were so close together / close to wall that it was very difficult to navigate round one of them - definitely not advised for a larger person or with mobility issues. The shower room has no door. There is minimal hanging storage space for clothes or suitcases which in any case could not be unpacked. The main owner was unwell but it was still totally unacceptable that it took around an hour to sort out a false fire alarm in the night with no clearly understood procedure for sorting this. There was absolutely no apology or reparation following this event.

Overall a good experience and I would be happy to recommend to others seeking a stay in Ghent.

I think the location overall was good. It is a five minute walk from the historic sites. It is also within a 15 minute walk to Gent Dampoort Train Station. It is far from the main train station but so is are the main sites anyway. The room was comfortable and air conditioned and the management was very responsive. This is a guesthouse as opposed to a hotel, which I have never experienced before, but was overall pleased with the experience.

The room is a little small for the price. Yet I traveled during a popular tourist season so it could be that the price was in line with other accomodations for the time of year.

Clean, nice smell, crisp sheets

The single beds could not be placed next to each other due to their design (as opposed to shown in the pictures) and that was a bit awkward since I was traveling with my husband.
