    the room was OK
    Service was poor - we had booked for dinner but when we arrived at 7pm and eventually found the receptionist she didn't seem to know we had booked and told us to go the restaurant straight away as it would be closing soon. (It didn't but this wasn't a great start) - the actual service in the restaurant was poor - we were even expected to open the wine ourselves!

    The ambience was great. It really felt like a haunted mansion, which is what we wanted on Halloween weekend.
    The beds were uncomfortable. The shower was a trickle of water. Breakfast took an hour to land on the table and was missing items listed on the menu. The waitress told us that because it was their last day they had nothing left.

    relaxing and beautiful surroundings
    the hall and the furnishings. the breakfast was good too
    only a small thing the pillows were uncomfortable so didnt get a good nights sleep. The bed was fine just the pillows

    Having expected a first class hotel the standard was disappointing .
    After sending us to an already occupied room our eventual room was large and warm but up 2 flights of stairs at the top of the building. Good breakfasts, adequate evening meal.
    Although we had a large bathroom that appeared recently renovated, because we were so high up the hot water flow was a mere trickle, just adequate for wash basin but poor for the smart shower. Only by getting up early or drawing hot water at times when other guests were not using it could a normal flow be achieved!
