Great place with great views!

Fantastic view, being higher up the hill gives you a better view of the lake than in the town. Do take the recommended route to the hotel, much easier than the satnav route. Friendly staff, good breakfast and lovely large room.

Amazing views. Delicious breakfast. Remote, quiet location set in the hills only 10 minutes drive from Varenna

Access is a little tricky via a very narrow winding steep road with not many passing places. Definitely need a car and I would recommend arriving in daylight

Absolutely wonderful - the crowning jewel of our Italian vacation. Definitely felt like La Dolce Vita!

Gorgeous views of Lake Como, serene, and peaceful - away from the tourist hubbub. Large rooms and bathrooms for Italy, very well maintained. Valentina and staff were wonderful, took care of every detail, and had great recommendations for us.

No easy way to get there, other than by taxis, which need to be arranged in advance - but so worth it!

Beautiful scenery. The hotel was exceptionally clean and the staff very helpful.

This is not a complaint about the hotel, but access is more difficult if you don't have a car as taxis are hard to come by at busy times.

Wonderful views from the hilltop just north of Varenna. If you have a car, this is an excellent choice for the discern

The incredibly warm welcome by Valentina set the tone for a wonderful short visit at Crotto. We braved the narrow road which was an adventure! The room was comfortable with sweeping views of the lake, as described. Breakfast was very good. The wine crotto was unique. Location close to town. A quick walk to our dinner at Semi di Grano (also very highly recommend - must book in advance, really - 6 tables)

We only booked one night!! Would have loved to have stayed longer!!! :)

uphill/downhill driving to/from location can be a challenge, many tight/sharp turns on a very narrow road-this was not mentioned at booking

Honestly there was nothing to like.

I dont know from where do I start. 1. Full of confusion self check-in. Taxi driver helped me. Even he was unable to do it. Then we called & he talked to the lady to get the codes. 2. Its an isolated place. Map shows 8 min drive but its on the top of the hill and No taxi is available you have to wait 45min to an hour. 3. There was No light outside the rooms it was dark. 4. You cant party & enjoy in the town while staying in this hotel 5. Breakfast was just OK. Passable 6. There was No AC in the room. Just 1 slow fan. 7. There were no stores or cafes nearby. 8. There wasnt any shampoo in the hotel. I dont recommend this Hotel at all. Its better to pay little more and stay in the Center place.
