Superb

Great location and a comfortable room

The staff was great. They made me feel very welcome and helped with any questions I had. The location was also good and well suited to explore the city. Although in the bustling Chiado area, the room itself is very quiet at night so it's easy to sleep. The bed was quite comfortable.

As other people said, the stairs. But, as long as you go in knowing that there are lots of stairs, it's an excellent place!

Staffs are very friendly. They moved our luggage to the room before check-in.

We stayed at the attic, the ventilation was not very good and thus the room became wet. I think we were unfortunate to visit the hotel during the rainy season.

This was my third stay. Super hospitality and great location.

The desk staff are super helpful and went out of their way to accommodate my changes in travel plan.

The room on the top floor involves a traditional Lisbon staircase best not negotiated if youre wearing heels and have had a few drinks.

Disappointing

Unfortunately, not the charming boutique hotel in city centre advertised.

We stayed at Chiado44 for 5 days early November.23. We knew the location and chose it as we wished to be somewhere central and boutique hotel side appealed to us as we did not wish to stay in a large hotel. Staff were very polite and very helpful at the reception. This was the best side of our stay. Room was decorated in a modern and tasteful way albeit small. However, we were sent and paid extra for a room with balcony and river views. It overlooked the back walls of a schoolyard and views were not nice. However, was this a minor issue which we did not think was worth challenging.. The main problem was Chiado44 was still undergoing repairs - unpainted walls and missing electric sockets on the first floor of the stairs and corridors during the first 3 days then the strong paint smell in the corridor as we had to walk up the stairs to 3rd floor (with paints pecs in the hallway and stairs was not pleasant and for the price charged, ( 730plus for 5 nights). The smell and the discomfort was unavoidable as the property does not have any elevators. Whilst the location was central (main reason for our choice) all other aspects of this property were sadly mainly disappointing. Every time, next door neighbour used a shower, we kept hearing rattling noises in the old pipes which was surprising as we expected the walls of an old building to be more insulated. This is not ideal for light ./sensitive sleepers. This place is not ideal for those with mobility issues. We used booking.com on a regular basis and travelled to Lisbon many time over the last 13 years. There are other more comfortable choices in Lisbon.

The internal areas were undergoing repairs and were in really poor condition (except the reception area) strong paint /chemical primer smell throughout the stay. Room -views were not as advertised. Our recommendation is for them not to open it to clients whilst this level of internal repairs are going on. Otherwise, most clients will ask for refunds or substantial discounts which we considered.

Fabulous stay, would definitely recommend.

The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, always on hand to help book tours or taxis when needed. We were delighted we got an upgrade on our room to have a room with a balcony. Our room was fabulous, very cool! Good space for hanging clothes. The location was perfect, very central and we felt very safe. It is up a hill but everywhere in Lisbon seems to be up a hill.

Location is fabulous

the size of the room, it is too tiny. bathroom does not have proper shower curtain, water spilled everywhere after each shower. bathroom does not have proper separation from the bedroom. our room is is a 5-floor walk-up staff (reception) service is mixed wifi is non-existent
