Cairns Rainforest Retreat

If you're a fan of nature and camping but also appreciate a luxurious room then this is absolute heaven! It's a small wooden cottage hidden away on a hill at the outskirts of Cairns city. You're at the absolute edge of the woods; beyond your cottage is the forest and the creek below. The doors of your bedroom open up to a balcony with in view only nature and the sounds of the forest, and the occasional twig or fruit falling on the roof of your cottage. You have a bath tub with jetstreams that fits 2 right in your room and a very comfortable and spacious bed. In the morning we threw open the sliding doors and got back in bed to enjoy another hour of birds singing and brush turkeys coming up to the balcony while foraging before getting up and enjoying a cup of coffee on the balcony. It was phenomenal to stay here. We almost regretted going out for a full day diving tour, because staying in would have been almost as great! We only stayed 2 nights, but had I known up front how lovely this location was I would've gladly booked longer. So to manage expectations: the cottage is an absolute dream! Be advised that there are no curtains (as this is the whole point of the cottage: being as close to nature without compromising the comfort of a 4 star hotel room), but since you're overlooking nothing else but forest the only privacy issues you'll have are with the birds outside. There are only 2 cottages, so the common area (pool and lounge/kitchen by the pool) is shared only with one other couple. The pool is very nice: good size, deep enough for a dive in and very luxurious feel to the outside lounge area with ambient lighting surrounding you on your swim in the evening hours. Everything was very clean and looked well maintained. The hosts were lovely too. I saw some reviews talking about bugs, but we didn't have any problems at all.
