The Village Coconut Island Beach Resort is a great place to spend 3 or 4 nights to soak up the beautiful jungle island atmosphere. My outdoor jacuzzi suite was a very good value: huge, comfortable, and perfectly cleaned every day. It had a warm tub outside surrounded by tropical flowers & greenery, and a large clawfoot tub in the spacious bathroom... with aromatic bath salts provided as needed!
To my surprise, the "pier" for getting to and from the island was super stylish and seemed more like a posh open-air lobby than a pier, with cold water provided and resort-quality bathrooms. It was very easy to reach by taxi. Just make sure to call a day in advance to reserve a seat at the hour you want to depart, because all seats were full when I went.
The water at the resort was warm, calm and perfectly swimmable when the tide was up.
The vast majority of the staff were as warm and welcoming as could be, especially to a solo traveler, going out their way to make me feel comfortable. The (very) few people that were not in the best mood were almost certainly just tired since they work very hard serving tons of visitors in the tropical heat.
The resort offers tours of different islands on specific days of the week, so if there is a tour you are very interested in, be sure to contact the resort first so you can stay there the correct days. The Hong Island tour was excellent, with an amazing and energetic guide. It was a good value for the money and very professionally done. The activities coordinators are great and go out of their way to make sure you know about all of the fun options available to you, many of which are complimentary. The free trip to Rang Yai, Thai language class and water aerobics were especially fun.
Definitely go on a night when there is a fire show on the beach (for me in December 2023, it was only on Thursdays).
