Having recently checked my bank statement, I find that an amount of EUR45 was charged to my account by the Post three days after we checked out. No explanation or invoice has been provide for this amount and I have no idea what it was for.

The location of the hotel is perfect. It's as downtown as it gets and there's a taxi stand next to the hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and the beds have good and comfy pillows! The staff is very friendly. We got a lot of information on Ghent drawn on a map. It also is a cozy place with a beautiful bar and another space to hang out that has an honesty bar. Around the hotel there are lots of restaurants and other food options.

This is not so much a critique, but more of an observation: the hotel wouldn't be great if you have trouble walking stairs/navigating steps. There are elevators, but still quite a few steps as well, and the bathroom in our room was upstairs from where the bed was.

Loved the 1898 Post Hotel!

The hotel is located right on the canal close to restaurants and markets. Love the small number of rooms and with the amazing decor of each room. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was great the following morning with cooked to order eggs. The bar was comfortable for an afternoon/evening drinks with friends.

Our room had the shower on the second floor. It was great for the ambience of the room however; I think it might get old over time. It was a minor thing- we loved the hotel.
