# Itinerary:

- **Please note:** you will have to arrange your own accommodation in Kathmandu. Please ensure you are in Kathmandu at least 24 hours prior to the start of the trek for pre-trek preparations. Check the detailed itinerary for more information
- You will have to arrange your own accommodation in Kathmandu. As flights between and Lukla and Kathmandu face occassional delays, it is best to arrange a few extra days in Kathmandu to avoid the risk of missing your international flight
## Day 0 Kathmandu

- The local operator will collect the original copy of your passport and 2 ID photos from you
- 5:00pm approx. hotel pick up by rickshaw to the local operator's office
- Pre-trip discussion, safety briefing on the trek and equipments
- Meet up with trek leader and other team members
- Last minute shopping for personal items before the trip
- Welcome dinner in Kathmandu, enjoy Nepali cultural program

## Day 1 Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding

- Hotel pick up
- 25 minute scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla
- Arrive at Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla
- 3-4 hour trek from Lukla to Phakding
- Optional side trip to a nearby monastery
- Overnight in Phakding (2,652m)

## Day 2 Phakding - Namche Bazaar

- 5-6 hour trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar
- Pass through beautiful pine forest and villages and cross suspension bridges that take you alongside Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi river
- Ascend on a steep trail before arriving at Namche Bazaar, the main trading centre of the Everest (Khumbu) region
- Overnight in Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

## Day 3 Namche Bazaar

- Acclimitization/rest day (important not to stay still at this point of the trek)
- Go on an easy excursion to Thame, a small sherpa village or explore Namche Bazaar which has government offices, ATMs, internet cafes, shops, restaurants and a colorful market every Friday evening and Saturday
- Visit the Tourist Visitor Centre which houses displays on the first Everest ascent, Sherpa culture, plants and animals of the Everest region
- Overnight in Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

## Day 4 Namche Bazaar - Tengboche

- 5-6 hour trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche
- Enjoy a relatively easy and smooth trail with accompanying views of the Himalayas
- Spot native wildlife such as musk deer, Himalayan Thar and multi-colored pheasants
- Stop for lunch at Phunki Thenga, a small settlement with teahouses and small army post
- After lunch, ascend towards Tengboche, a village offering close up views of Mount Ama Dablam, Mount Nuptse and Mount Everest—home to the largest Buddhist Monastery of the Khumbu region
- You may get the opportunity to witness a Buddhist religious ceremony
- Overnight in Tengboche (3,870m)

## Day 5 Tengboche - Dingboche

- 5-6 hour trek from Tengboche to Dingboche
- Take the upper trail to enjoy magnificent views along the way to Pangboche village, passing through Chortens, Mani walls and small villages
- Stop for lunch at Pangboche
- Continue on to the Imja Valley then descend to Lobuche River before arriving at Dingboche, the only place in the region where barley is grown
- Overnight at Dingboche (4,360m)

## Day 6 Dingboche

- Acclimitization/rest day
- You have the option to hike to Chhukung where you will be rewarded with wonderful views of numerous peaks including three (out of six) of the world's highest peaks: Mount Lhotse, Mount Makalu and Mount Cho Oyu
- Overnight at Dingboche (4,360m)

## Day 7 Dingboche - Lobuche

- 2-4 hour trek from Dingboche to Lobuche
- Continue the ascent with a steep climb up the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier
- At the top of the ridge, you will find stone monuments honoring Sherpas and climbers who perished on their Everest missions
- Continue on to Lobuche, crossing the Khumbu Glacier with views of Mount Nuptse straight ahead
- Overnight at Lobuche (4,940m)

## Day 8 Lobuche - Gorak Shep - Everest Base Camp

- 8-9 hour trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,170m) to Everest Base Camp (5,364m) to Gorak Shep
- Pass through the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to Thangma Riju, where you will get a 360 degree view of snowy peaks
- Cross the Changri Glacier and arrive at Gorak Shep during lunchtime, with snow-capped mountains looming all around
- After lunch, we start our trek to Everest Base Camp, the ultimate objective of our trip
- Return back to Gorak Shep
- Overnight in Gorak Shep

## Day 9 Gorak Shep - Kala Patthar - Pheriche

- 8-9 hour trek from Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar (5,545m) to Pheriche
- Start early in the morning to Kala Patthar to catch the magnificent sunrise views of Mount Everest
- Return to Gorak Shep for breakfast with an option to visit Everest Base Camp
- After lunch, begin the descent to Pheriche
- Overnight at Pheriche (4,280m)

## Day 10 Pheriche - Namche

- 5-6 hour trek from Pheriche to Namche
- Cross Khumbu Khola stream and follow the main Everest trail down the scenic valley
- Cross the bridge over Imja Khola, pass through Deboche village and arrive at Tengboche
- Spend a brief time at Tengboche monastery before continuing our descent to the Dudh Koshi River passing through rhododendron bushes and fir trees
- Cross the bridge over Dudh Koshi and pass the villages of Tashinga, Sansa and Kyangjuma
- Arrive at Namche
- Overnight at Namche (3,570m)

## Day 11 Namche - Lukla

- 5-6 hours trek from Namche To Lukla
- Enjoy our last day's walk in the Everest region over relatively flat terrain with a combination of open plains, rhododendron and pine forests, backdropped by the Kwangde peak
- Pass through Sherpa villages and notice an impressive display of Buddhism and cultural practices associated with it
- Climb the final 45 minutes ascent that takes you from Chheplung to Lukla, where you can finally relax after the rigorous adventure
- Overnight at Lukla (2,800m)

## Day 12 Lukla - Kathmandu

- 25 minute flight from Lukla to Kathmandu
- Drop off at hotel or other desired drop off point in Kathmandu
- Farewell dinner and Nepali cultural show

## General

- This trek is of medium difficulty, a good level of fitness is required
- This trek can be enjoyed any time of the year. However, the recommended hiking season is between Mar-May and Sep-Nov where the weather is warm and skies are clear
- Both English speaking and Chinese speaking guides are available. There will be an additional USD200 surcharge per trip for Chinese speaking guides. Please indicate during check out
- Your safety is of paramount concern throughout the trek. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the itinerary as stated; however, weather conditions, health conditions of a group member and any unexpected natural disasters can contribute to changes in the itinerary
- In case of natural calamities i.e. political unrest, cancelation of flight due to weather, landslides, etc. any extra charges incurred will be shouldered by you
- Though not mandatory, travel and accident insurance is highly recommended

## Meals

- Breakfast and dinner will be served at the teahouse while lunch will be served at one of the restaurants along the trek
- Breakfast is included in both half board and full board option and typically consists of noodles, porridge, bread and eggs
- If you have chosen the half board option, you will have the flexibility of choosing your own lunch and dinner that will suit your taste and budget. Alternatively, you may pack your own food (e.g. cup noodles)
- If you have chosen the full board option, meals provided are typically dahl curry and vegetables
- Boiled water is provided at teahouses. Soft drinks, snacks and beer are available at the teahouse and restaurants at additional cost
- If you have any dietary requirements, please indicate them during check out

## Accommodation

- You will stay in teahouse lodges throughout the trek
- Private rooms are available at lower altitudes. At higher altitudes, the rooms are dormitory style
- Toilets are shared, blankets are provided and running water is available
- Majority of teahouses have cold showers, some provide hot water at additional cost
- Some teahouses have electricity where you can charge your appliances (mobile phones and cameras) at an additional cost
