Jolly Buoy Island is famous for rich underwater life. A lot of colourful corals and fishes habitat in the sea which can be seen easily. Acropora, Pacillopora, Montipora, Fungia, Leptoseris, Forties, gorgonians and tubipora are the important corals that can be seen in Jolly buoy Island. Beautiful starfishes, ocellaris clownfish , False Percula Clownfish, butterfly fishes, parrot fishes and Angel fishes are the ones that can be easily spotted and are a treat for the eyes because of their vibrant colours and fluid motions.

Jolly Buoy Island is only open for 6 months during which travellers can visit the island. November to April are the months in which travelers can travel here. This is the best time period to visit Jolly Buoy Island.

Tips For Visiting Jolly Buoy Island

1. On Mondays, Ferry rides to Jolly Buoy Island are not available so make sure not to plan a trip on this day.
2. Do not take along any shells unless you have a permit from the Fisheries Department.
3. Jolly Buoy Island is a no plastic zone, so make sure you are not carrying plastic carry bags or anything made of plastic with you.
4. Pack and carry eatables with you as there are no eateries in the island.

How To Reach Jolly Buoy Island

Jolly Buoy Island is well connected to the mainland by Wandoor Jetty and is a part of the archipelago of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.To reach here, you will have to fly down to Port Blair airport which is well connected with almost every major city in India. After reaching the airport you can either rent a car or travel in buses run by the government to reach Wandoor which is at a distance of 30 km from Port Blair. To make it to Jolly Buoy Island on time it is best to catch the 7:30 AM bus from Aberdeen Bazaar bus stand at Port Blair that reaches Wandoor Jetty by 8.30 AM.
