Kattabomman Memorial Fort was built in the honour of Kattabomman, an 18th-century chieftain who didnêt accept the predominance of the British East India Company and waged a war against them. He was awarded a server death penalty after he was captured. The memorial stands at the site where he was hanged to death and is considered a shrine by the locals.
