Located on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Selangor, also referred to as Darul Ehsan, is the most developed Malaysian state. The state houses many protected areas to safeguard the biodiversity and wildlife along with being home to some notable beaches. It is a soothing green destination with plenty of nature-friendly sites to witness.
Shah Alam, the state capital is home to the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Mosque which is adorned with beautiful architecture and I-City which is a commercial hub. The Batu Caves present in this region comprise the Hindu shrines and an enormous statue of Lord Murugan. There are thrilling hiking opportunities available at the Bukit Tabur which is a long quartz ridge that has at its disposal awe-inspiring views of the state.
Many eco forests are situated in Selangor namely Taman Rimba Templer, Taman Rimba Ampang, Taman Rimba Komanwel, Sungai Tekala, Kanching, Gunung Nuang, Gabai Waterfall, Sungai Chongkak, Sungai Tua and Sungai Sendat. A famous Formula 1 car racing track where Formula One Malaysian Grand Prix was held in the past is also present in Selangor.
The National Zoo of Malaysia, Shah Alam Gallery, Crab Island and Firefly Sanctuary are some other worth visiting attractions in Selangor. It is also a haven for massage and spa lovers.
