Big Buddha Temple, Pattaya Overview

Located just off the Pratamnak Road, Big Buddha Hill is one of the favourite spots for locals and tourists. Big Buddha Hill is a huge idol of Buddha nestled at the top of the hill serving as a sight to behold even from good distance. Also known as Wat Phra Yai, this image was installed in 1977 at a height of 300 feet. Situated about 2.5 kilometres from South Pattaya, you will notice an impressive huge gold-colour Buddha idol as you reach up close.

The place also holds special religious importance among locals who visit to offer their prayers for good times in their lives. A pavilion hall and small distinct images of Buddha are another attraction on the hilltop. Visitors light incense sticks as a part of their prayer. A short flight of stairs at the entrance leads to the main statue adorned with a number of bells all around the hill. However, the effort is worth it with a magnificent view of the Pattaya bay as well as the city area and coastline it offers. Thus, the place serves as one of the favourite hotspots for photographers.
