Located in the state of Punjab, Amritsar is full of fun and frolic and has the country's best street food! The beautiful golden temple is worldwide famous and has a rich culture and history associate (Read More)d to it. Surrounded by pristine sarovar/water, the shrine looks beautiful when is lighted up in the evening. You can savour the holy langar that is served in the Golden temple for free of cost. A day's trip to Wagha Border is a must as it fills you up with the feelings of patriotism and makes you feel proud about your nation as you can have a close look at the soldiers marching and the India flag being raised high. The Jallianwala Bagh is at a walk-able distance from the Golden temple and the beautiful lawns and the bullet marks makes one nostalgic and solemn. You can also visit Gufa wala mandir to experience a mini Vaishno Devi in Punjab! For all the foodies out there, you should definitely visit Chungi, Makkhhan da dhaba, Kesar da dhaba and Bharawa da dhaba for lip smacking foods and lassis. Chungi's aloo naan are nation-wide famous and so are the famous jalebis and jaggery halwa. One can also find amazing street food including fried assortments and chaat. My favourite thing to do in Amritsar is shopping! You can find a wide variety of colourful, traditional juttis, suits, sarees, chikan work and phulkari dupattas. Amritsar is also famous for its masale and aam papad. It is ideal to visit the city in winter months as it's relatively cooler and the chilly weather would help you in enjoying the food and roaming around more.
