River Rafting in Goa - Exploring a Different Side of Goa

Rafting is the new emerging recreational water activity. Rafting is an adventure sport, which is becoming popular among hardcore adventure lovers. This water-based sport is full of excitement and thrill. It is done on rivers, near riverbeds where it is rocky and water currents are strong. Places for Rafting in Goa

1. Mhadei/ Mandovi River

You can enjoy rafting for about 10 kilometres in this river. This river flows through the Western Ghats. This is about 45 km from the state capital, Panaji. The trip will last for about 2 and a half to 3 hours.

2. Valpoi River

Valpoi River is another rafting spot in Goa. This is the river with sharp and narrow cuts. The activity is provided in the month of mid-June to mid-September. One must take the notice of guidelines and safety measures before experiencing it.

Best for Rafting in Goa

The crowd of tourists is usually less in Goa during the monsoon period. But this is considered to be the best time for Rafting in Goa. The rivers are full of water. Plus, the waves are high, which are essential for rafting. So, the best time in the year for rafting is considered to be from July to September.

Rafting Operators

1. White Water River Rafting at Mandovi/ Mhadei River

The activity begins from either of the two shifts, ie. from 9:30 am or from 2:30 pm. The time span of the activity will be approximately for 3 hours. Rafting in this river is ideal for beginners. Approximately, a distance of 10 kilometres will be covered by the rafts.

Things to carry- ID proofs, comfortable clothes, towel, sunscreen, sunglasses.
Advisory- Pay attention to your leader’s commands.
                Not meant for Pregnant Women.
                Proper footwear, not slippers.
                Do not consume alcohol before or during the activity.
Approximate Cost- INR 1,589 per adult

2. Rafting at Valpoi River in Goa

The activity can be conducted in two shifts, ie. either from 9:30 am or from 2:30 pm. Children below the age of 12 years are not allowed for this activity. Rest, everyone is heartily welcomed. You will be provided with life jackets and helmets for your safety. The activity will last for about two and a half hours to three and a half hours as per the flow and speed of the water.

Things to carry- ID proofs, comfortable clothes, towel, sunscreen, sunglasses.
Advisory- Pay attention to your leader’s commands.
                Not meant for Pregnant Women.
                Secured footwear, not slippers.
Do not consume alcohol before or during the activity.
