A visit to Karjat for sightseeing is possible to complete in a day. If you're coming from Mumbai take the first train out at 5:40 AM  which starts from CST station and reaches Karjat at 8:00 AM. Take the local 8-seater rickshaws (Tum-Tum) to Peth Village and explore the fort till lunchtime. You can have lunch at the local hotels around the fort or carry your food.

Post lunch, take the Tum-Tum to Kondana Village and alight near the caves, you can explore the caves till evening and leave by 5:00 PM before it gets dark. Catch a return train from Karjat station around 6:00 PM, and you'll reach Mumbai by 9:00 PM. In case you're going for trekking, choose Kondana fort and spend the day there. You can stay for the night in the hotels or camp out and visit the Peth Fort, next day in the morning.

Best place to visit in monsoon.. Prefer one day hiking.. Carry own food and water. Its medium level trail for hiking. Carry only hiking or trekking shoes.

- Carry extra food and supplies with you, facilities are not present at proper intervals.
- In case of planning to stay back, make sure you enquire about the availability of hotel rooms beforehand (Read More).
- While trekking, be alert and check the surroundings. Sometimes, men indulge in drinking near the trekking spots and throw the bottles around. Wear good shoes.
- Women and girls especially be alert and do not go alone as these men may harass when drunk.
- At the Kondana Caves, drinking and smoking is strictly prohibited.
