Villa De Khaosan by Chillax - SHA Extra Plus

Oh my last day at the hotel I had packed my bags removing my valuables from the in room safe in preparation for my departure. As I left my room to go down for breakfast I saw the housekeeping staff working on our floor. I turned on the DO NOT DISTURB option for my room to ensure nobody would enter my room while downstairs at breakfast. When emptying the safe before exiting the room I had taken all my remaining Thai cash, counted it and put it into my wallet, that I then hid at the bottom of my backpack. After breakfast I returned to my room and decided to go downstairs to the local 7-Eleven and buy some bottled water for my trip. When I checked my wallet the Thai Baht I had put in my wallet 30 minutes earlier was gone. Also some of the New Zealand cash I had in there was missing also. A handful of small value notes remained. I went down to reception to lay a complaint, and asked the staff to check the security cameras that were installed on our floor and facing the door to my room. The receptionist said she didnt know how to operate the camera system, but one of the staff members coming in that afternoon could check them, but that wouldnt be till 1 pm that day. I returned to the hotel just after 1 pm and was told by the same receptionist that their IT company would check the cameras but couldnt come that day. She took my contact details and promised to be in contact once the camera footage had been checked. It has been over a month since my stay and Ive heard nothing. This was a very negative ending to a stay in Bangkok that had been largely positive. Ive since read other reviews where this type of theft has happened to others staying in hotels in Thailand. Let this serve as a warning to others, especially if visiting this hotel.
