Trippr Gokarna - Beach Hostel

We visited Gokarna over the New Years period and ended up booking at Trippr in advance as it seemed like places were filing up quite fast. I get that prices go up over the busy periodbut I also expect a certain level of standard if youre paying premium for what you receive in return. The tents are terrible. Yes theyre right on the beach..but thats it. I have spent years of my life sleeping in tents + the outdoors (as its part of my work), but this was a very uncomfortable stay. The tents are double walled nylon, with only a tiny ventilation space. They get very hot and sticky overnight. If you open the doors to breathe, you are destroyed by mosquitoes. A fully mesh inner would be better suited to the conditions. We also received no mattress of any kind - there was an old sleeping bag plus a pillow, and thats it. It states online that we had a 3x3m tent space and futon beds. This wasnt the case. This is not good enough. A yoga mat, a foam swag mat or an inflatable option would be acceptable. The tents on the sand were at least softer (some were actually put up on concrete - ouch), but sand gets everywhere over the days as there is no front door mat to stand to brush off on when entering. No small lights provided either, and the tents are all side by side with no privacy. Not sure how they think this is an enticing stay - and I encourage the workers/owners to try it out for a few days to see how it feels for the guests. The prices for these tents dropped significantly after new years sure, but one nights normal price would easily pay for the entire cost of buying the cheap quality tent. The quality and thought put into this option is lacking, which is a shame as it wouldnt take much to make it a little more comfortable. Showers only work when no one else is using them..otherwise it is a bucket option. It says lights out and no noise past a certain time - but we had to tell people to shut up after 12am numerous times, when they were outside playing...

Staff was not good. We booked the property almost 2 month ago from the day of the visit. We tried calling the location before our visit they did not pick the call not tried to return the call. Once we visited there, the staff started saying we cannot allow you to stay, as you have family. And family is not allowed. Upon asking why they said its in the booking website. Upon asking why they did not make efforts to call back, they gave a very weird reason of being busy for 2 months. Finally after some time they allowed us to stay and asked my parents not to visit the restaurant. So we thought we will order and eat in our room. But no service to my surprise. The rooms were not value for money. 8k per room in a pathetic condition. I got sick in the room as the rooms condition was so bad. There was dust and damping smell. ( I could not take the photo of dust in the room ) Too bad we decided to leave the place without staying for entire 2 days as I got sick. But they did not return any money back. No way to take the luggage from the parking area to the place of stay as it is 400 meters away. I have visited Gokarna so many times but did not find such pathetic service.
