Exceptional

Beautiful boutique hotel with very great details to the interiors, loved their food and they are very accommodating and cook anything outside of their menu too. Beach is accessible and a pleasant one. Would definitely recommend it

Wifi has been on and off in the room we stayed, they tried changing the router too but unfortunately didnt help. It worker for most part of my stay though and would have loved some beach chairs and towels at the beach, but couldnt find anyone from the hotel there.

Atmosphere has lots of potential had not ot been totally neglected and left in total need of renovation or at least fresh paint. Distance to beach is literally a few steps and beach is nice but no sun lounges for the property, public beach indeed

Desperately needs fresh paint, not as clean as the other hotels we stayed in and even 300 m away at Taru Villas. Overall better avoid because you can find better in the vicinity. The 3rd bad in their family suite is a wreck and a disgrace for the price. Humidity and bad smell in the room, colours and lighting in the bathroom are depressing and remind of 50 shades of grey. Property could have been good but is left to literally rot, staff is not helpful and lacks any competence so again better stay away.

Amazing place, you won't be disappointed.

This was our forth or five visit to the hotel, we hadn't been in a few years and it really is just as good and well managed and kept as years gone by. The property is so well maintained, you can tell the staff are passionate about what they offer and they all pitch in to get things done. The rooms are amazing, the staff are friendly and the food was extremely good. The chef was very helpful with the dietary needs of our daughter and it was really appreciated from our side.

The wi-fi could be a little stronger in areas, but to be honest it was nice not to always be online!

Better than Jetwing

A truly exceptional small hotel near one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka. We stayed for two nights at first and after a few nights in Galle we returned to Villa Bentota given that the hotel was just so good. The hotel buildings and interiors are really beautiful and clean. The room is cleaned in the morning and the staff also enquires if there is a need to do a second cleaning later during the stay. The surroundings are exceptional. All of the staff at the hotel very helpful (although at least one of them was only in it for the tips) and very professional. Special thanks to Chamod and Malith. The breakfast was amazing and the best we had in the 7 hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka. Lunch and dinner were great as well, offering the option to cook essentially whatever the client likes (of course within limits).

The drinks and food are pricey (quality is still good). Those with a very light sleep might find it annoying that a few traings go by in the evening and in the morning. It did not disturb us as only very few trains pass through. This was actually a bonus as it made the place more interesting, including the very beautiful train tracks between the palm trees.

Lux hotel with stunning property next to beautiful long beach

Very stylish lux hotel by famous Sri Lankan architect, stunning property with high quality service, nice rooms with beautiful view, 2 pools, right next to the railroad with trains occasionally passing by which makes a great experience, beach 2 minutes away, surf spot 10 away down the beach (with surfboard rental), beautiful sunset

Lovely suite but we left feeling It could of been much better

We stayed in a ground floor suite and the room and bathroom where lovely.The grounds were lovely and on the whole extremely well kept.Access to the beach over the railway line was great fun.

A train passing 15m from the room seemed romantic to start but it soon worn off after being woken a few times by the first train at 5.30am .If you are a light sleeper this is not the hotel for you.The pool was very refreshing but the area around the pool especially the changing rooms needed updating.The alcoholic drinks in the hotel were a RIDICULOUS PRICE , approx twice the price of the last 2 hotels we had visited(both 5star)The lunch and dinner menu were very limited,To be honest I didnt rate the food at all and we dined out when we could.After 6 nights we were happy to move on ,The bed looked lovely but was very hard.Overall I would say we paid a great price for the suite but it seemed the hotel were too keen to get extra revenue from drinks and food.Even the airport transfer quoted from them was over twice what we paid from another company.

DONT STAY HERE....ALL MANAGEMENT AND STAFF ARE THIEVES

There was robbery in my room where 3 ladies and 2 kids were sleeping , right in the middle of then night, when these 5 persons were already sleeping in the room at night and the door locks of the hotel were not working, we had complained about the locks and items and cash worth INR 150,000 were stolen

The management was not at all taking any responsibility of the theft that happened with us right when we were sleeping and was not willing to check their staff , the doors dont lock properly of the rooms.....the security cameras are only few over such a large property which do not cover all spaces, also quality of cameras are very poor nothing is seen properly in videos.....

Very good

Very relaxing.

Their biggest plus is that it is a beautifully designed hotel, very unique and their staff is very good esp Mr Ruwan who was looking after F&B. You don't have much option of local food, unless you ask for it, which Mr Ruwan was very good at getting organized.

Their booking department got our room booked mixed up and they tried to pass off another one at the back of the hotel, with no view as the one we booked. It was all settled only after we showed them their confirmation on payment. That was needless. Secondly, the normal breakfast is quite sparse. Eg, you can't order fresh fruit and cereal, you have to choose one. Quantity and choice could both be better. Also, they have no other facilities besides the pool and spa. It would be a good family getaway if they could cater to the needs of this segment.
