The only place to stay in Edinburgh

So much was flawless - pre arrival communication about a road closure, answering questions via email etc. Upon arrival the porter took our bags up, breakfast and reception team so friendly and welcoming. Location is perfect - practically on the Royal Mile and also near the Christmas markets and train station. Plus the rooms are so comfy and that perfect mix of traditional and modern.

Breakfast is advertised to open at 630am but opened at 7am so threw our plans off slightly. Also the lifts are slow.

Lovely stay and would definitely stay again.

Excellent location. Stunning building.

Staff could be more organised and efficient in the Grand Cafe. Breakfast should be included in the price whatever room you choose. Did have an issue with housekeeping but hotel handled it well.

I could not fault anything. the location is prefect, right slam bang in the heart of things, breakfast was superb, as was the food and drink options in the Grand Cafe, which is a Must to go to. We were here for Hogmanay, and optioned for the theme diiner and dance. What an amazing way to entry into the New Year. Highly recommend. Well done to everyone that runs and works in this amazing, stunning hotel. It was a dream come true.

If I had to be a little bit picky. The room didn't have such an interesting view ie views of back of buildings and pipes. But having said that we could have upgraded if we'd ask the amazing staff. But as we were out for most of the day, it didn't realyy matter as the bed, pillows and bathroom were more than adiquiate

Centrally located hotel

We have stayed here many times in the past and it is always a pleasure.

On this occasion we booked a feature room located on the 9th floor which was incredibly cold throughout our stay. The tiled bathroom had no underfloor heating and even with a heated towel rail left the whole area like an ice box. Even at 29 max in the room, we were still chilly.

The hotel is extremely well situated in the heart of the city. The architecture itself is attractive. The tea room is also stylish.

The room itself was disappointingly small and for nearly 350 GBP per night Id have hoped for more and maybe a bath. The other rather unappealing aspect on arriving at the 8th floor was a room service tray which had left a rather unpleasant odour. This can happen but it remained there for at least five hours during the day which is pretty poor.

Nice hotel, great location

Great location, very pretty at Christmas time. Lovely view Huge shower

Room was on the top floor and it was v cold, had to get a portable heater. Lift was tiny. Staff weren't overly friendly. Minibar in the room had a half drank bottle of wine in it.
