Wonderful romantic getaway

Loved the service and great staff. Adore the Penthouse with its privacy, space and ambience . Perfect for a romantic getaway or to celebrate a romantic occasion. Fireplace was excellent. Breakfast was excellent.

Only concern is that the steps from outdoor area to bedroom should be clearly marked with tape as it is easy to miss the step. My kinglip at dinner was very overcooked and had to be sent back, but previous experience with the food exceeded my expectations.

It exceeded expectations. The decor was quirky but tasteful. The food in the restaurant was 5* for both dinner and breakfast. The staff were extremely helpful. We were given a late check out without any additional cost. Loved every minute of it

Best way, ever, to spent our two week journey of Paris, East Africa and the Seychelles!

This was a one night layover in Johannesburg after being in Paris, Kenya and the Seychelles , for two weeks. This property FAR exceeds all expectations. The couples spa treatment was the absolute best.

Chic comfort

We loved the design of this hotel. It was like Ethan Allen had had a hand in decorating the public spaces - it was so perfectly boho British Colonial. We loved the cozy bar and the lush plantings on the grounds of the hotel. Also loved the breezeway with the coy pond on the way to the bar and restaurant. Our room was very comfortable. The staff was laid back while still being professional. We have stayed in many places in South Africa that were super-duper deluxe. We liked that The Residence felt more homey and comfortable without being over the top.
