The Staff were very friendly and kind.

For our Breakfast sitdown at 07h00 there was only one waitress, we told Reception staff the previous day with check- in that we have to leave by 7h25 the next morning for an appointment, so that they can at least assist with our Breakfast order for the nexr morning. We were told there should be no problem if we are down at 07h00, by 07h18 nobody even took our tea/coffee order or even tried to assist with our Breakfast order.... There was only 3 other guests sitting down so we left the lodge with any drinks or meals....... The reason we chose this lodge in the first place was because the rate included Breakfast

The location was great and easy access to the motorway network. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Not much only issue was with the air conditioning in our room, apart from that all was good.

The breakfast was great. Decent portions, great quality but little choice. The location is quiet and safe and has a fascinating history. The hostess was friendly and informative. Check-in and check-out was quick and only slightly weird when they make you sign some weird T&Cs you haven't seen before. Our stay was peaceful, quiet and undisturbed. The hotel also has load shedding backup.

While the restaurant was high quality, the menu favoured meat-eaters and had little in the way of vegetarian choices. There was literally 1 main on the menu for vegetarians, which is difficult to manage for a multiday stay. There were seafood alternatives. This was compounded by the weird prohibition against eating food not bought from the hotel in your room (included in the T&Cs). The Saturday, the restaurant was not open for lunch at all because "they didn't expect anyone" but we were there during the hours that had been communicated to us was the lunch hours of the restaurant. Nobody had told us we had to book for lunch. The room only had an keycard lock, no physical lock, with no "do not disturb sign" that we could find. This didn't make us feel comfortable that house keeping couldn't just barge in while you were in the shower. (Having stayed in many hotels where this was a real concern) I would have appreciated seeing the T&Cs before booking, and arriving there, with no option but to sign them. (Edit: I just realised after looking at the pictures again that they didn't even give me the room I booked. And they said nothing about a room downgrade when I checked in. It was a nice room nonetheless, but either their pictures and descriptions are wrong on the site or they downgrade you without telling you. Be careful. The description even mentions a fireplace - "The fireplace is the standout feature of this suite." There was no fireplace.)

The room and bathroom was lovely.

Lamb shank was not fresh. Following morning I asked for my breakfast to be packed since I was in a rushing for a meeting, the kitchen said they don't have take-away containers.
