WONDERFUL PLACE TO STAY!!!

Shivir Aranya is an oasis!! Such a beautiful place, located close enough to the Tiger Reserve to enjoy that, but set at the foot of the mountains and in the midst of a small village of farmers, to feel very serene. There are so many activities there that you can take advantage of and everything looks so new and fresh!! The grounds are so pretty, and the rooms are clean and offer everything that you need. The staff was wonderful - so respectful and extremely helpful, going above and beyond to ensure a lovely time there. As an American tourist, I was also very thankful for the grilled cheese sandwiches on the menu! Lol. I would love to return here again!!

The tents were well-maintained and very comfortable. The cook was good. Food was well-prepared, though it was mostly only Indian food. Other items were not that well-prepared. But it was ok. The entire area was very peaceful, quiet, amazing scenery all around. Thankfully no loud music and running, screaming kids were there. The evening warm fire was really lovely to have, so that we could sit under the open skies and enjoy the solitude and star-lit skies. We might go back again.

The only thing we didn't like was the soliciting for tips by attending staff. We were told by the staff attending that he was expecting big tips because he was cleaning our tent (which should be done anyway), bringing us the tea packets (which are, by the way, already paid for by us), water in the flask - which should be done any way). This amounts to begging and also makes guests uncomfortable. We relented but thought that our otherwise excellent experience was somewhat marred by the constant reminder by the attending staff for money. The last day suddenly another staff almost imposed morning tea on us, and then he waited for tips. We relented as well... But this must stop. There should be clear instructions given to all attending staff not to disturb guests this way, as that totally spoils the experience. In stead, there should a common tipping box (which was there... But after paying big sums of money to three or four people, we couldn't afford to put anything there). The common tipping box can distribute whatever is put there amongst all staff, including the kitchen and gardening, and cleaning staff, who do an excellent job but never have any direct contact with the guests. Also there should be very clear instructions for NOT TIPPING any INDIVIDUAL staff. And most importantly, all staff should be strictly instructed not to solicit guests for tips.. If this is not tackled, all the good work will fail to enhance the guest experience.
