Excellent

The helpfulness of the staff. We had a last minute change of plans which they accommodated for us at last minute. The room was perfect for a short break and in a good location.

Expensive, breakfast was very expensive (30 CHF per head). We did not expect to get undercooked potatoes at this cost

Superb

Christmas stay at the NvY Hotel

Modern, fresh and clean hotel. Room was decorated nicely and the bathroom was excellent. Shower in particular was great. Staff were all really warm, welcoming and helpful. City map and free transport tickets were provided and explained on arrival. Handily located to be on the lakeside in just a few minutes walk. Walk the other way for a few minutes and plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from.

The room could be a little too warm at times and the air conditioning didn't really lower the temperature much and this was in December.

Would not stay again

We were able to get adjoining rooms.

We were really unhappy that two days into our stay, we went to the tourist information center in the city and they told us the hotel should have issued us a code that would be valid for using all the public transportation. They said it was included in the city tax we pay the hotel. We went back to the hotel (paying for our transportation there) to ask about this. The hotel said they only give the passes if you ask about for them! How am I supposed to know to ask for them if I am never told about it? Also, its something that is included in the tax they didnt forget to charge me for, so why not offer it to the guest? This was very irksome as we had been paying for all our transportation around the city for two full days when it was otherwise included in our hotel stay. Also, the rooms are designed such that you can see into the bathrooms and showers EVEN WHEN THE DOORS ARE CLOSED. The doors are glass with a gradient fog on them so you can still see in. In my daughters room, there was an actual glass window IN THE SHOWER that allowed the person in the room to clearly see the other person taking a shower. So weird. No privacy. When my kids took showers, the other child had to come sit in our room to allow the other one some privacy because of this set up. Lastly, the hotel was kept so hot. We never turned on our individual heater and yet it was so hot. We had to open the window to get some air. The hotel is also not very conveniently located for a bus stop. This alone wouldnt have bothered me, but with the other stuff, we would not stay again.
