Not what I expected from a Mercury hotel

The rooms are comfortable and there is free parking.

Breakfast is not good. We have had English breakfast in many different hotels in the past 2 years and this was by far the worst one. We had paid for 4 days for breakfast and had only two days as we decided to go for breakfast in a pub nearby. Service was also not good. I requested towels and toilet paper 2 times and had to chase it. One morning I called the reception 2 times to request toilet paper and after waiting for 30 min and not receiving it I had to go downstairs to request it a 3rd time. The cleaning service did not refill hand wash soap and bath soap.

Very good

The lobby was pretty. The room was clean and spacious. Big hotel and had welcoming staff.

The rooms and bathroom were a bit old. I didn't like the taps as it had the old style double taps. The hot water one was too hot to use.

I will not go there again

The food was brilliant

So to start with the receptionist was at reading a book eating Crisps at the reception desk, the bed was like sleeping on a brick neither of us were able to sleep I actually slept on the floor in the end, landing floors were squeaky so if people walked past your room you woke up there were buckets in the hall way from ceiling leaking through with part of the ceiling missing.

Disappointing

Would not recommend this as a 4 star hotel

Staff very friendly and accommodating

Hotel was dated, shower was cold and couldnt be fixed. WiFi was a waste of time, spa facilities were off site, hotel was expensive for what it was and felt like we were mis sold at the price we paid

Excellent- Would definitely stay there again

Breakfast exceptional. Pots cleared away promptly and everything explained regarding choices.. Excellent staff throughout the hotel very helpful. Lovely foyer and clean throughout

A few more teabags and milk cartons in the room because sometimes you want a cup at night as well as one in a morning. Complimentary water would be a nice addition for in the night perhaps

We stayed in a standard room the bed was massive and so so comfy TV with free view Free WiFi Bath with shower Toiletries Iron and board Lovely and clean Staff was lovely, kind and helpful Breakfast was gorgeous Evening meal was delicious 2 mins away from park and ride into York Town Nothing not to like Fabulous Christmas stay

Large rooms Accessible location, even though out of city Reception staff helpful Dog friendly Upgraded room and birthday fruit platter/message for husbands birthday

Slightly dated decor but rooms a good size Needed more structure at breakfast (2nd morning was better than first)
