Excellent hotel - beautiful setting - staff were very friendly and helpful - a gem of a hotel

Great location, comfortable rooms, good public areas, staff very attentive

Slippery shower floor. Beds very high so might be worth checking that suits when booking.

Great location, beautiful furniture and decorations

WiFi was a bit slow; the swimming pool is quite small and unfortunately squeezed right between the front lobby, the restaurant and the open-air corridors to the rooms (more decorative than swimmable); the service at the restaurant was very slow and the lighting was more hospital-bright than intimate/romantic.

will not be as memorable as my stay 15-20 years ago

have used the hotel many years ago and wanted to stay again as had fond memories of my stay the staff were exceptionally good especially Abin and saniyei at reception

I felt that the hotel had lost some of its panache from years ago. but this is possibly due to the effects of the pandemic little attention to detail like the food presentation wasnt what one would expect from an establishment of this stature

Pretty hotel. Service questionable

Room was nice and clean.

Service could have been much better. Constantly harassing us to pay way before our check out time and when we had already paid 50% deposit. This includes when we returned to the hotel soaking wet from rainfall and just wanted to dry off. Even as we finally left they were forensically checking the mini fridge. Didnt leave best taste in mouth!

A lovely start to our trip, perfect location for enjoying Cochin. The Prawns Moilee is a must!

The location, restaurant and the staff were amazing. The grounds were beautiful

Our only comments is that we were in a ground floor room, which had very little natural light and was a little damp. For future I would recommend you request a room on the 1st floor, or that the hotel places a dehumidifier in the room to reduce the damp

Beautiful hotel in a great location, restaurant lets it down

The location is amazing, right in the centre of Fort Cochin so you can walk everywhere very easily. The hotel is beautiful, very well decorated with interesting art and decor pieces. It is very peaceful compared to the hustle and bustle just outside. The reception staff were incredibly helpful - I had a minor injury while I was there and they could not have been more helpful and kind in looking after me.

The restaurant lets the hotel down unfortunately. The food was very good but the service was terrible. We arrived for breakfast and dinner and there often wasnt anyone then to greet us or show us to a table and they would take 10/15 minutes to arrive. A lot of items were also unavailable and they only told you that when you tried to order them. I had a treatment in the spa which was unfortunately not a great experience. The treatment rooms are soulless, very cold with no atmosphere and the female therapist doesnt speak any English so couldnt talk me through the treatment or what was happening, which is a shame. The treatment was quite expensive compared to other places nearby and it wasnt worth the money. We were in room 8 on the ground floor which is right by the restaurant and you hear all the noises and music coming from the restaurant until it closes and then at 7.30am when it opens for breakfast.

Beautiful hotel, let down by hopeless customer service

Beautiful hotel and delicious breakfast and dinner. Our room was very well appointed with two balconies overlooking the courtyard, interesting art pieces and it had a lovely airy feel. The courtyard and pool were gorgeous.

Unfortunately this hotel and our stay was really let down by poor customer service. Staff all well meaning and politejust a little hopeless. When we arrived at the hotel after a very long journey and after having called in advance to tell them of our delay and new ETA, the staff were confused when we arrived and even suggested we might have the wrong hotel?! We had booked for 5 of us, but when we got to the room there were only 3 beds and it took considerable time to arrange the other two beds and help staff rearrange furniture. By this time it was very late (around 10:30pm) and we were struggling to get very tired small children bathed and into bed when the receptionist appeared in our room demanding payment (we had already paid 50%)not an appropriate time especially after all the confusion and frustration leading up to this point. The restaurant staff were exceptionally slow at times, got very confused with our orders, kept bringing the wrong things out etc and then, after we had waited for 45 minutes for our food at dinner, I was told that what I had asked for wasnt available after all?! A lot of things on the menu for breakfast, dinner and drinks didnt seem to be available and the breakfast buffet had two half filled Pyrex dishes of cereal with no milk. Tea and coffee took forever to arrive because the water wasnt kept hot or the cups and saucers prepared in advance. I also booked a massage but found the spa totally characterless in comparison to the rest of the hotel - two rooms with hard couches, no candles, music, ambience. Bored staff sitting around on their phones unable to even find a spa menu for me for some time. The masseuse didnt speak any English and couldnt explain or talk through the treatments, so in the end I cancelled and left

Superb

A bastion of elegance, generosity and kindness in the heart of Kochi--a sanctuary of art.

Malabar House has always been a place of respite and generous elegance in the heart of Kochi--a welcome retreat from the heat of the day. But also a glorious place for meals and meeting friends. The staff are always kind and the rooms could not be any nicer with exceptional artwork and space.
