Top bunk is very high so you cant reach things off your bed and the steps dont feel very safe. Bathroom smelled on drainage and wasnt super clean. Not much atmosphere in the hostel compared to others I have stayed at

The staff were friendly and that is the only reason I have given two stars. We did not end up staying here due to the condition of the room offered. We were changed to another room which was just as bad.

I can only comment on the private rooms as I believe the dormitories had more ventilation, but we were unable to stay in the private room we had booked due to mould and damp from having no window or ventilation. As soon as we entered the room the smell was overwhelming and made it impossible to stay there. We spent time sitting in the corridor whilst we tried to air the room out but this did not work. The room also wasn't particularly clean as there was mould and dirty sheets. They obviously are aware of the issue as there was a dehumidifier in there which was full and when emptied filled up rapidly again. We mentioned this to the staff who sprayed air freshener in the room but this did not help mask the smell. When we asked if there was another room we were offered an alternative that was slightly cleaner but still had the same overwhelming smell. Because of this we decided to ask to leave and found alternative accommodation but when we asked for a refund despite not even using the room and paying in cash we were told we'd have to claim it through booking.com. However, after two days we still have no refund as booking.com can't get hold of the property. All in all I would really not recommend booking a private room here even if it means paying a little bit more to stay elsewhere. This is the first time we've ever had to leave accommodation without staying despite having backpacked across five countries!
