A perfect stay in Oman, my friends and I enjoyed our trip and would definitely return

It was close to the beach, also next door to the W where we spent some time. Whilst the interior is a little dated the rooms were modern and the restaurants served great food. I think its perfectly located. Also you have trader Vicks on-site if you enjoy a cocktail or two.

A little old fashioned main interior, but this wasnt a deal breaker.

Brilliant stay, hope to come again soon.

This is a fantastic hotel, with a superb breakfast, friendly staff and great facilities. The rooms are spacious and there are a variety of restaurants to choose from. The food is of great quality too.

We asked for quiet rooms, but this request was not granted. Our room faced the main airco units of the hotel, so we heard these.

A disappointing Christmas in Faded Glory

The Intercontinental is located just off route 1, it is central, and within easy access of Qurm beach which is reached via a door from the grounds of the hotel that is activated by your room key. Rooms are spacious, always clean and the bathroom was pleasant with good showers. All the staff that we met and interacted with were professional, kind and attentive. The Intercon has a large car park that is free to use. Breakfast was plentiful with a huge range of foods available each morning. Having a choice of places to eat was also good, and we ate at the pub, Tomato, Mynah's Edge and Trader Vics, all of them were excellent with good food. The hotel is impeccably clean, bright and airy, with a massive centeal atrium that was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. Christmas Even dinner at Tomato was excellent, although not what we were expecting, more below.

I had requested a room with two beds, I was travelling with a friend, but they didn't have one on arrival, which made for an awkward night that neither of us expected, having to share a room with one bed. This was rectified the next day and we were moved to a double room, but it felt as if the room request, made twice via Booking was simply dismissed. We chose to spend Christmas in Oman, and chose the Intercon because of their festive offerings. Alas this was very much a let down, their promotional material all claimed Christmas Eve dinner and Brunch in Bliss for Christmas day at the Musandam restaurant, which we then found had been closed since early in the year, and was covered in scaffold scrim. Nothing was mentioned or said about either event not happening at the advertised restaurant. Instead we were relocated to Tomato, but we had to enquire as to where it was going to be, and nobody seemed clear on the location. Christmas Day 'Brunch in Bliss' was moved to the square palm garden, facing the closed Musandam and its orange building work scrim. This garden was also used for breakfast which had initially been held at Traders Vic, which was lovely, the Palm garden very much had a 'This will have to do' feel to it. It certainly could never be described as blissful by an stretch of the imagination. Considering that these dinners ran in excess of 100 per person. We were so disappointed. Instead we booked the Christmas brunch last minute at the W Muscat hotel next door, which was a remarkably slick booking operation with text and email confirmations, none of which we received from the Intercon. The lunch at W was absolutely incredible. The Intercon had gone to the trouble of printing elaborate festive event booklets and had all manners of advertising around the hotel. We paid 2,400 to stay at this hotel - because of their festive offerings - alas, they totally let us down.

Good location, great room, very friendly staff, nice restaurants

For us was not an issue as we stayed only 2 nights to explore Muscat, but who wants to enjoy the sea - the beach is public, outside the hotel area and not very attractive. I would consider this hotel as a city hotel rather than a resort

Good location but expensive for what it offers

The alArab restaurant was delicious and the breakfast buffet as well

The rooms didnt have a view in the beach, we were seeing only terraces of buildings and the pool area was always very crowded and not nice (many kids screaming and running constantly). Also the beach in front of the hotel is a public beach that is not nice to swim and there is no facility. So really you pay for the location but it is not worth it
