Hotel Topaz offers a warm welcome and large rooms, but the shower in the bath may be challenging for some due to the lack of grab rails. The hotel's sister property, The Tourmaline, was brightly lit (Read More)and suitable for partially sighted guests. The meals at both hotels were good and well presented. While the hotel offers stunning views of Kandy, it is not walkable to town and does not have a lift, making it partially accessible. Overall, the hotel provides good service, excellent food, and is recommended for a comfortable stay.

Nice stay with a great view.

Hilltop location with beautiful views, clean room, friendly staff and a great options for breakfast.

Nothing major. Only I could think of that they could have charged us when we were there as booking.com mentioned to pay at the property. They charged before we arrived.

Good stay for the price

The bedrooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotels top floor for breakfast has a great view on a clear day.

The hotel was slightly dated. Also the staff were very polite, but sometimes to the extreme. It felt like you were bombarded with questions at points.

A very nice hotel, great rooms but needs some attention to detail.

Firstly theres a flight of stairs up to the reception, just take note if you are not able bodied, Im not sure if there is another entrance you can use which would be easier. The staff at check in were very friendly and welcoming, bar staff bringing a cool drink full of smiles. Large reception area and plenty of comfortable seats, the bar and a set up for live music, and great views. All was spotlessly clean. Now onto the room - I stayed in room #211, it is a good size, lovely and spacious, not cluttered and with calming colours, good lighting options and tastefully decorated. It has everything you need BUT the air con unit is badly positioned facing the bed, it has to be off to sleep as even on the lowest setting it blasts in your face, but not a deal breaker.

For a hotel of this price point sadly the bathroom lets it all down. Black mould and signs of damp in a few areas inside the shower cubicle, and black grouting so quite obviously not clean. I have stayed in places in Sri Lanka at half the price with a much better and cleaner washroom. Staff for room service cannot speak much English, and thats ok, I dont speak Sinhala but then mistakes are made when ordering despite pointing on the menu to the items youd like they were apologetic but it meant that from the first call I made before 8pm to place an order, it took until 9.30pm before I was finally eating what I wanted maybe have numbers next to the items would avoid this happening - just a suggestion. The corridors are noisy at night and early morning, not the hotels fault just luck of the draw if you are near other guests who decide to stand and chat outside their rooms at 6.15am with no consideration for anybody else.

Very affordable hotel

Very nice lobby, room, bed, shower and bathroom were great. Friendly staff. Good breakfast Kandy isn't the best destination, if this hotel would have been in say sigiriya or mirissa it would be an absolute must to stay here.
