Disappointing 5 stars hotel.

The variety of pools, the restaurants and the full equipped gym.

The room was very disappointing. It had a very smelly and uncomfortable odor when we arrived. A lot of the amenities inside the room were missing upon our arrival. Air conditioner had to be always stay on, otherwise the room would get wet and humid, water drops would fall from the ceiling, it was VERY uncomfortable. Many details felt outdated, old and forgotten. The TV in the room was so small that it felt like the 90s. This cant be a 5 stars hotel.

Plenty of things to do for kids, a great selection of swimming pools and restaurants.

Disappointing

Prepare to be ripped off if youre not local.

The pools were clean, as were the rest of the facilities. The breakfast was delicious, if a little pricey - especially for children.

The entertainment in the daytime barely existed. Programmed as 10-11 in the pool, on one day it was 15 minutes and the next non-existent. This has happened before, and I was told it was due to it being off-peak or weekdays. This time we stayed and paid for peak time and a weekend - so there was no excuse. WORSE was the fact that people are allowed to sell their inflatables at the hotel. I went to buy one that I knew cosy 15.000COP and because Im foreign (though have lived here for 11 years) they wanted to charge me 70.000COP. I reported this- as Cartagena is meant to be trying to prevent this from happening. No one was interested. If you are foreign DONT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!! Lastly, there have been many changes since the pandemic. The most disappointing is the new charge for using the beach umbrellas. The hotel advertises itself as a family place - but it isnt. We used to be able to go back and forth between beach,pool and hotel. But the beach is now 25 miles for 4 hours, you lose the umbrella if you leave and are hounded by vendors. Due to this and the aforementioned mentioned lack of entertainment, if you have a young family DONT STAY AT THE HOTEL. Such a shame that greed has overtaken what was a lovely hotel!

Facilities for kids

Terrible. Was checked in on a room knowing that the aircon was not working. Several customers were checked in as well. Later found no water working on the room. Food and service very very slow compared to similar hotels like Sonesta. Overpriced for the service and will not come back again to this hotel. Not sure how some people can rate this hotel 4 or 5 stars. Very disappointed.

the experience did not feel like a 5 star hotel

The restaurants had good food. Most of the staff were kind. The swimming pool was nice, and the bed was comfortable. Good breakfast buffet.

The room was old and needed to be repaired (broken water taps and loose shower pipes). The deal in theory included a welcome cocktail but when we asked for it, they denied it to us. Some of the facilities were closed (swimming pool, business centre) and the hotel was full. Overall, the experience did not feel like a 5 star hotel.
