Holiday Inn Edinburgh Zoo, an IHG Hotel

I was surprised to find when checking in that pool use was by booking only. This was a disappointment and I later found a message on my app about it from booking.com but it wasnt sent as an email so I missed this. We had arrived at the hotel early with the intention of making use of this. There was no other facilities for children despite being billed as a child friendly hotel. The room had no USB ports available and we couldnt get the TV to work. I went to the bar to charge my phones but was asked to move to the restaurant as there was a group coming in. We ended up eating as we were in there. The food was good value for money! The noice in the restaurant from some form of generator was horrific. It started to grate on us and as we had already been asked to move we didnt feel we could ask to move again. We ate our food but couldnt stay there very long so had to go back to the room. My daughter was tired so we asked about the Tv and available chargers. I was told chargers were t available but someone would come look at the TV. Someone come to my room and told me that I needed to press 1, not the button it was telling me to. I said I wanted to use the on demand, not terrestrial but I was told it just doesnt work. I asked again about chargers, if there was any from lost property I could possible use but I was told no. Having no chargers and no TV I then spent 35 going to Tesco to buy a charger to keep my 10 year old entertained. Ive stayed in over 30 hotels this year, Ive never stayed in one that didnt have either USB chargers at bedside or on demand. I wouldnt have minded paying for a movie but there was nothing available. It got worse when we were woken up at 7am with the droning noise again. I had expected some disruptions but this was ridiculous. Daughter was also disappointed that in a family hotel there was no hot chocolate. I felt the hotel is only popular due to location next to the zoo.
