First time ever, after at least 8 continuous years, the breakfast experience wasn't great. Key food items were missing from self-serve as only one chef was working, which is what the guests were told. This meant people had to wait about than 20 minutes for things like coffee machine filled, pastries, orange juice/ milk canister refill, items of cooked food replenished, or a clean table. It was a huge disappointment as it was so frustrating not to be able to sit and have your breakfast in one smooth experience. It felt like one thing after another, leading to several guests complaining. It felt like a 2-star experience. The second morning was a bit better, which was a relief (and probably because guests complained) as I would reconsider spending a special time like Christmas, there again. A good breakfast experience is a big part of a guest's stay, and it needs to be pleasant/ trouble-free for guest's to feel they want to rebook when there's so many other hotels out there. Everything else was fab as always. Reception/ bar staff lovely, room clean, etc. hopefully, that was a one-off.
