Overall it was a good stay but not worth the value paid. We will try another hotel next time and look for more authentic

Very clean and well maintained. Rooms are spacious and even though the property is big its very quiet and enjoyable to walk around in the evening. Family friendly and we enjoyed the sight of the animals throughout the resort (cats, monkeys, deer)

We wished our request for early check in was accommodated since we had a red eye flight and did not sleep the night prior. Food was very disappointing for the value paid. We expected some good Mexican food but found mostly frozen cooked food (guacamole was frozen with chunks of ice in it at times, bad tamales, and all other food we tried was not meeting expectations. We tried most of the restaurants and the food was disappointing. Cocktails at the bars were too icy and sweet. You could not find a really good cocktail to enjoy. I wished the beach was better too. Water was shallow and the sand in the ocean took away from the blue of the water.

Understaffed, noisy in rooms with thin walls and uncomfortable beds in rooms.

The beachfront is nice

When we checked in, we had paid for a king room and when we got to our room it was two doubles. When I called the front desk, the girl who answered was very rude and told me to call back on Friday because they have no king rooms to move us to We checked in on Monday and were leaving on Wednesday. So I went to the front desk and they did in fact have a king room. Unfortunately there was thumping and banging going on all day and all night above us, so in hindsight we shouldve just stayed in the double room. Upon check in we wanted to book some dinner reservations, but no restaurants were available. We were told we would have to buy an expensive bottle of wine if we wanted to eat in one of the restaurants. Neither of us drink wine so that never happened. Line ups for a drink took at least 20 minutes if not more each time as only one bartender was working at any bar location. Not very relaxing, stressed the entire time due to lack of service and attention. Perhaps they are short staffed so I get it but we had just came from the Hard Rock and the service there was exceptional so maybe I had my hopes set too high.

Disappointing

Too many inconvenient things for a good holiday.

The buffet options were decent for all inclusive. The restaurant food was also good. There is a cheap shuttle to Playa del Carmen.

The room had no plug points next to the beds or for the provided lamps or coffee machine ( the cords just dangle off of the counter) No elevators in most buildings, making several flights of stairs several times a day taxing in the heat and for older people. Extremely noisy dining areas that are not well ventilated. The smoke in the steakhouse and mexican restaurant became uncomfortable. When the resort put on a dance performance, the volume of the speakers actually hurt many people's ears. Not enough staff to guests. We were often not tended to during buffet meals, leaving used plates etc piling up. Staff were not very friendly or helpful. We also found the housekeeping lacking. Our half drunk champagne glasses from check in remained in the room for 4 days... The room was not cleaned well and the bedding didn't fit the bed well. Room service was not good. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, and the bun was dinner roll sized... The reception and restaurant area is very far from the pool and beach. Yes there is a shuttle, but waiting 15 mins sometimes for the next shuttle became annoying. Not nearly enough loungers around the pool area, which had loud music playing all day. The beach was quite rocky, and long lines for drinks and snacks. The restaurant booking system isn't user friendly. We could not get in to a restaurant for our first 2 nights as it was fully booked. All in all it felt like they were under staffed and under equipped for what they were offering. We stayed at the Riu Palace Costas Murejes for 3 nights before moving to Playa del Carmen, and the Grand princess does not compare in the slightest.
