Very poor

Nice staff, but I wouldnt recommend the Elmbank.

The staff were really good, they were very helpful and nice.

Overall, the hotel seems to be cutting corners on many different items. It feels like they give you the absolute minimum and cant help with feel the service they provide is stingy. For example, the heating in the room was not able to go any warmer than luke warm. The bathroom was not fully cleaned, long hard on the walls and mould in the corners. All it would have took would be a spray of bleach. There were only a few teas and coffees provided and we were also given notice at the start to say that we were strictly limited on the number of teas that we could get. They said on the website that there were limited number of parking spaces provided by the hotel, they were in fact more like 10 parking spaces for a very large hotel, which I assume has hundreds of guests. In addition to that the parking was also being charged at the rate of 10 per day. I felt this was misleading in that hotel was not really providing parking, it was providing the absolute bare minimum so that it could say the parking was provided on the website, but in fact parking would not be available to most guests, and if it was, there would be a charge associated with it. Im normally not very picky about the sort of service that is provided, but like I say, this hotel did seem to be quite stingy.

We would recommend the hotel as the staff make you feel really welcome, the room is interior designed finished, the food

The property was internally finished to a very high standard and it was a really comfortable bed which was perfect after a long day of shopping!

There was nothing we did not like.

Disappointing

Gorgeous room and very stylish

The water was switched off during the night ,although one staff member did apologise for the inconvenience. I do feel that it is quite an issue when staying away and there was no access to water. I understand mistakes happen but we were only there one night and it did sort of taint our stay.

Superb

Loved the decor and it's a beautiful building. Great breakfast and good location. Comfortable bed.

Struggled with hot water in the morning at peak time and parking was a struggle. There is parking at the school next to the hotel available but it wasn't too clear on pre instructions.

Very good

A nice stay overall

It was very comfortable and clean and a short walk from the bars and shops

There was a distinct damp smell in the room .And the shower wasnt very warm .

The position of the Hotel, the lovely staff. The cocktails.

The room was very close to a door used by others so could be noisy at times. The fridge in the room did not work and the mattress was well worn, felt like a hammock on the left.

Great location for a stay in York City

+ Great Location + Nice atmosphere in the hotel + Lovely bar and public areas + Very nice breakfast

- Room 117 had a bathroom for disabled guests but was not very user friendly. - No shower curtain so all the bathroom was soaked - No toilet roll holder so the toiler rolls were also wet from the shower - No toilet seat cover and only a small basin for washing hands . - Nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom. - As the floor was tiled, the water from the shower stayed on the floor all day ad would have been dangerous for anyone with reduced mobility. - The hinges on the wardrobe door were broken. NB if you take the dinner package you have a reduced menu to the value of 30
