Great value stay in York city centre

I was in York for a friends funeral and wanted to stay somewhere after the event, rather than head back to Manchester. There is another hotel in York with a similar name, the Diamonds Hotel, and I had originally intended to stay there as it is closer to where the wake was being held after the funeral. I booked the hotel about a week in advance (I had seen them both on Booking.com) but I only realised the night before that I had booked this hotel, when I went to check the postcode for my satnav, so do be careful to avoid the same issue I had. Nevertheless, the choice of hotel didnt matter in the end. The funeral was at 10 am, so luckily I was able to check in about 12 noon as the room was ready. Parking was offered at 7 for 24 hours, a couple of minutes walk away on their private car park across the road and down the street. The gentleman who showed me to my room was friendly and efficient. My room was about on the first floor, facing the main road, but I didnt hear any traffic noise. I had booked a single room with a shared bathroom. The bathroom was through a door and about six steps away, and I didnt have any issues queueing for access. There was a sink in the bathroom, along with the wardrobe, a small desk, and tea and coffee-making facilities. The bed was comfortable and the Wi-Fi fast and reliable. Everything was spotlessly clean and of a good standard. No breakfast is provided on-site, but you are just a couple of minutes away from the city centre. The hotel served its purpose for me, and if you are looking for a great value stay in the city centre, Id highly recommend it.

The car park did feel a little hidden away and is open Access, but that is reflected in the cost. Unfortunately, the card machine in the hotel wasnt working on arrival so I had to pay cash for the parking. Luckily I had some cash in the car as I dont usually carry any.

Alright place to rest your head fairly close to the markets

Beds were good plenty of towels good coffee and little shampoos. Quite clean

The room was on the top floor lots of stairs no lift. Bit of a walk from the station.

Great location for a short stay

This place was so convenient for all the York attractions, only about 200m from the old Walls and about 5 minutes walk from York Minster and the old town. The room was clean and warm, perfect for a short stay.

It was a bit of a longer walk to the train station (25 min) and there was only one bathroom for a few rooms so finding time to use the bathroom was tricky.
