I used to love this hotel years ago, but now needs some renovation.
Location is great. Gym and swimming pool. The coffee place in the entrance has nice coffee.
The hotel needs renovation. The staff looks tired. Swimming pool is nice for families and kids. A little bit noisy for solo travellers.

If you want to be a part of Mexico City history this is the best hotel to stay in!!!!
Its an architectural marvel. The hotel opened in the summer of 68, a few months ahead of the Mxico Olympics. The architect and city planner Pedro Ramrez Vzquez, heading the citys organising committee, had a vision; to fuse together Aztec and Mayan designs, trad folk art and tripping-out psychedelia. And he achieved it in spades, using the artistry of fellow architects such as Modernist Ricardo Legorreta, Flix Candela and the King of Logos, graphic designer Lance Wyman. What Camino Real Polanco does so brilliantly is pay homage to Legorettas Mexican heritage, leaning into Vzquezs vision. The hand of his friend and mentor Luis Baragan is also clear.
Fountain of Eternal Movement by Japanese-American landscape architect Isamu Noguchi, the subject of a major retrospective at the Barbican in Autumn 2021 did NOT work while I was staying at the hotel.

We had 3 rooms including a master suite for a week and were very pleased with the rooms and all the service - housekeeping, porters, reception, business lounge, room service, restaurant and breakfast room - were pleasant, efficient and capable. The rooms were clean and very spacious and the master suite was huge with a comfortable living area where could all gather. So many members of staff went out of their way to make us even more comfortable. Breakfast offerings were abundant and delicious- and the Christmas breakfast was extraordinary. At this Camino Real you can have a 5* experience (comfort/amenities/service etc) with a Mexican flair.

We enjoyed the hotel which is located close to many museums, within walking distance to restaurants.
The room was comfortable. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, plentiful and delicious. It was a very good value. The service was excellent at the La Huerta restaurant.
The room was not well insulated from noise at night. We were kept up at night by parties and loud music from other parts of the hotel and there was nothing we could do (we called the receptionists and they told us they would investigate and report it but the music persisted.

Very comfortable short stay in Mexico City
This is a very large hotel and we were lucky to have a room on the ground floor with a patio on to an internal courtyard. The beds were very comfortable and the room was well setup with a desk and plenty of charging points. It is close to several museums and art galleries and is in an upmarket neighbourhood.
The main entrance to the hotel is a long way from the front desk and one must negotiate several steps to get to it which is quite inconvenient if one has a lot of luggage. Also the minibar is locked and you have to leave a large security deposit for it to be unlocked. We only wanted to use the fridge to keep some milk and medication that required refrigeration. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which one would expect in this class of hotel.
