Breathless Punta Cana Resort & Spa - Adults Only

We booked a suite/room with a partial ocean view. They upgraded us to a swim-up room. We find these rooms to be a downgrade and have no interest in them; they are essentially garden view rooms with a piece of a pool outside them. Apparently they had no partial view rooms available and they considered our room an upgrade. That made the stay less enjoyable for us; we dont like the ground floor and have no interest in a swim-up room we would rather see the sky and a glimpse of the beach. This is the one case where the staff (Charles club checkin) was not helpful. The room was old. The most plumbing fixtures were corroded. I think they are updating the whole resort; for whatever reason, we were in an old room. The room next door was unoccupied, but had all the lights on and the tv on, which we could hear though the wall; we finally got our concierge to turn off the tv. The food was just ok. It was not good. It was not bad. It was a bit disappointing. They indicated that we had coupons for a massage. We were disappointed that this was only a discount for a massage; the way they describe it, it sounds like a free massage. Misleading and disappointing. The massage was OK quite rough for a medium Swedish massage but not bad. The spa was a bit dated and a number of the facilities were not working or not present (no foot bath hydrotherapy; therapeutic showers were not working). The lush spa bar was a couple of fruits and some flavored waters. This was a bad value even with the discount. Given the not-great food, downgraded and aging room, and aging facilities, this was not a good value and was not a very enjoyable stay. I would avoid staying here again, even if it is a bit cheaper than other 4-star and 5-star.
