Bohol Beach Club

I will not return to this place due to one reason. Many guests have zero respect of marine life, are touching, lifting and playing with the starfish on the hotel beach. All for the insta photo or as a toy for children. There was plenty of hotel staff but eventhough there was a reminder sign not to do it, they were only watching guests doing this silently. Its wrong, its irresponsible and it makes me sad. Everyone needs to understand the importance of not touching starfish. The answer is simple: they die when they are taken out of the water. In humans, this activity would be equivalent to filling the lungs with water for a few minutes to take a funny picture. Who volunteers? Do not worry, every 5 minutes we empty your lungs for a few seconds so that you do not die yet and then fill them again for the next photo session. Also starfish are extremly fragile, prone to mental stress and can get contaminated from the hands of a human which can result in a slow death. Doing anything else than looking will harm them and in most cases, it will be the cause of their death. We are all responsible when it comes to our planet and its inhabitants. Thats why we need to spread awareness. I would wish this Hotel would be part of a sustainable solution and more education maybe with a short briefing at Check-In to not destroy the natural ecosystem and seeking consequences if doing so on the beach - so the little animals would not need to suffer anymore from tourist amusement. Instead it seemed to me they let it happen to not upset and maybe loose guests.
