    Wonderful food and hotel
The hotel is gorgeous and perfectly designed. We loved the town and the market. Our stay was perfect, the food was really good and the massage was also really great. The Staff was really nice, they even let us their own motorbike. Thank you Dew and Gone for making our stays perfect

    Disappointing
    Disappointing
The design is great, the location is quiet. The attempts of the team to make us feel better after the negative room experience. The fact that they compensated us with a complimentary payment for our early leave taxi to Chiang Rai & the Laundry service we ordered.
***BEWARE OF - DELUXE PRIVATE GARDEN & PRIVATE GARDEN SUITE!!! We booked this option because the hotel was full. Being by far the most high priced room type we expected to get proper value for what we paid. Unfortunately it was all the opposite of what we expected. 1. the garden is basically a pool of standing water which is the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes - it is practically unusable unless you dont feel or care about mosquitoes. 2. The windows are not really sealed so even if you never opened the window mosquitoes can easily venture into the room. The hotelier suggested to keep the curtains closed in hope it will keep the mosquitoes out. There are no mosquito nets. 3. The room did have already an electric mosquito repellent fluid which indicates the staff is well aware of this problem. There are also signs in the room which encourage you to close the windows due to mosquitoes (wont help due to how the building was built). 4. The ceiling is low, there is a wall outside that is there to provide you with privacy but it rises up to cover 80% of the external light. You end up in a dark cave. 5. Since there is barely any light entering from outside (or air because opening the window is an invitation to a horde of mosquitoes) the humidity level goes up as in dark damp caves. Despite having the A/C during the whole night it couldnt take the humidity out of the room. You can feel the humidity when you lie in bed. 6. We complained about this and were moved to the superior pagoda view room on the upper floor but only for 1 night and then the hotel said we have to move back to our ground floor room since the hotel was fully booked. We decided to leave and lose the money on the extra 3 nights we booked rather than stay and sleep in a damp cave. The rooms in the upper floor are amazing and totally worth it. (Though no mosquito nets and you will still encounter mosquitoes but at least you get proper sunlight and no humidity, and high ceilings) 7.

Perfect for an intimate, relaxing stay
Loved our stay here so much and wished we stayed a day more! The space was beautifully designed and has a heartwarming story behind it. Public spaces were very cosy, and the rooms were so relaxing and comfortable, we slept really well every night the staff were also friendly and we had great chats with them about Chiang Saen. Last but not least, the food was DELICIOUS location-wise, its ideal for a short stay, walking distance to the weekend market and pier for long-tail boat trips! Would love to be back as soon as the next opportunity arises, thank you so much to the team for making our stay so enjoyable!
To be honest, there was nothing at all to dislike! Depending on your comfort level, everything is close to the ground as with buildings of this nature and architecture, e.g. sleep close to the floor, bags on the floor, etc. which I personally prefer but my partner didnt as much. The pool is intimate and sufficient for a relaxing time but some may find too small. You may hear sounds from the cafe as the chairs are loud depending on your room location, but also not a big deal as they dont interfere with sleep, etc.

    Very good
Frustrating, a hotel with lots of potential, stylish but not that practical.
Interesting architecture, located very centrally and quiet, safe . Helpful staff. Huge very comfortable bed.?
Rooms were dark, had a very inconvenient step in the middle of the room, very little storage, no bedside table, and no chairs. It was more akin to an indoor camping set up. Advertised as having bikes. These were not safe ( flat tyres, brakes not working, seat adjustment bolts broken, not lubricated) so not safe or suitable to ride on, despite the fact that there is a good bike repair shop 500 metres away! A major factor in selecting this hotel was availability of bikes. Left us with little to do during our stay, as there is very limited transport. Food very expensive at the hotel, but some good places to eat nearby.

Award winning restaurant and architecture. Very calming and peaceful in the heart of the old city. We will be coming bac
This is the most stunning place we stayed in all our time travelling through Thailand. The architecture is award winning. The wood smells amazing. The bricks resonate with the old city style. We felt we were in a nourishing environment. And the restaurant is amazing - Michelin star at a good price considering the quality. Best farang and Thai food weve had. The location is perfect, right in the old city beside the Mekong night food stalls and near many old temples as well as the weekly market. Ive lived in Chiang Saen before and this is the next location you can get.
We think the pricing is a bit steep. We did not appreciate the extra 725 baht fee for our son who is 4 years oldunderstandably there would be a fee for an extra breakfast but aside from that in every other hotel in Thailand kids his age stay for free. It is lovely that the hotel is right next to an old temple, however I think given the hotel is capitalizing on that aspect they should give back to the old temple spirits by offering to clean up its grounds, do a bit of around it by planting trees and flowers, leaving offerings at the old Buddha. It felt neglected.

Its a very nice authentic hotel, probably one of the best in the area. I liked that everything was made of wood, so it felt very natural and eco friendly. Service was good too and we liked the restaurant in the hotel.
Breakfasts could be better. To our taste the choice was very limited as we were not used to eat Tai dishes for breakfast and found them too heavy to eat in the morning. Other things that we tried didnt taste good and it was very unfortunate that they didnt have at least one option for a plant milk for coffee. I hope that management will take into consideration the fact that many people are lactose intolerant, cow milk is bad for health and environment in general and will include at least one, better 3+ options for vegan milk.
