Exceptional

I will stay here again if I come back to San Fran.

It has everything you need, clean, quiet, and very inexpensive! The kitchen is very useable, theres free coffee and tea all day. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend it!

Okay option on a tight budget

The most I can say about Amsterdam Hostel given it's my second time staying here, but the first time since it's been renovated, is the cheap price. Compared to other hostels in San Francisco it's the cheapest and that translates to its overall quality of the facilities.

The consistency in cleanliness is significantly lacking. My bed had noticeable stains and the bathroom including bedroom floors were almost always dirty. The toilet seat was broken in my 6 person dorm suite with a private bath and my outlet socket on my bed didn't work when I tried plugging in my charger. I had to use the USB portion of the outlet as it was the only thing that worked. Lighting in the room was fairly bad that created a somber ambiance.

The room was nice and pretty spacious for the price. The facilities were decent too. Our train arrived late and they were very accommodating.

The location, I would say, is not that great, especially since we arrived around midnight. Even our Lyft driver also warned us about that.

Better than expected.

The stay in Amsterdam is pleasent and better than expectation. The facilities seem to be new (or maybe well maintained) and clean. The hostel is with fully functioned kitchen. Budget limited travelers can cook themselves. The room is good for its price. The room we stayed this time is also for physical disabled and is bigger than others (I guess). Beds are comfortable.

Cleaness of the shared bed sheets is a little bit in concern. The wifi connection in the room is sometimes weak, and cellphone signal also bit unstable. The location is close to the transition to the Tenderloin but still acceptable position.

Not what was advertised. Do not recommend.

The room was clean and the bathroom was furnished really nice.

This place should not be advertised as a hostel but rather should be advertised as a half-way house. 70% of its occupants are people who don't have a home to go back to. As a young female solo traveller I did not feel safe. I stayed here 4 nights and 1 of the nights one of the guests in our room in the middle of the night abused the rest of the girls in our room. Admin did nothing to help except transferred us to another room for the night and then to return to the same room the next day. The location of the hostel is relatively central however was not on a safe street and I would recommend not being outside of the hostel after dark or early mornings. I would not recommend anyone to stay here!!!!

Great value room in excellent location

Are yoiu kidding, $70 for a private room with bath in this part of SF? Room was recently remodeled, modern and clean. Bed was very good. Bathroom and shower excellent. Location is top totch. It was actually pretty quiet in our room which had a window on the courtyard. Would stay there again. Perfect if you are seeing a show at the Masonic.

People complained about the front desk staff but I did not find them rude at all. They were trying to do their job, he may have been training a new guy, and their system is a little inefficient. Not sure why they want to see everyone's ID. But that and the $20 keycard deposit seem a small price to pay for the rest of the plusses.
