A Perfect Stay - Petrel by the Sea

Hello, I am writing to inform you of the disappointing experience we had at 'a perfect stay' from the 17-20/8/22. I very rarely complain, hence the delay in sending an email. However I feel it important to address the experience so that future holiday makers do not have to experience what we did. My husband, 2 children, my mother and my aunt came to the Gold Coast for my father's funeral. It was difficult to book a comfortable apartment with so many rooms hence why the property appealed to us. The photos provided on the website were also appealing to the eye. However on our arrival we were surprised that it was the same place we booked as it appeared old and very different to the modern photos provided. We were tired and my aunt was jet lagged (after travelling from Germany) but unable to take an afternoon nap due to the noise from the construction site next door. I also noticed that the lighting in my bedroom and on the outdoor stairs was not working, and the sink in the upstairs bathroom was blocked. The people who stayed before us had also written a list left on the tray on the dining table of things to fix (cupboard handles missing, lights not working, tv remote battery needed etc) which I passed onto the handyman who came. I was disappointed in the response that you were unaware of the construction next door, but at least someone came out to fix the lights and sink, however the lighting downstairs was unable to be fixed. A day before we left I noticed that my travel bag was wet -including most of the clothes inside. On further inspection there was water on the floor coming from the hot water system in the cupboard. This in itself was appalling as there appeared to be mud or something of the kind next to the water system. How on earth this is appropriate in a bedroom is beyond belief. Despite someone coming out to fix the problem, we were unable to sleep in that bedroom due to the smell from the leak.

I was disappointed when I arrived to find out the upstairs and downstairs sections of the house were only connected with external stairs. We were travelling as a group of 9, including 5 children. I didnt feel it was safe for the children and I to be separated by the outside area (which of course had the pool). So we all ended up staying downstairs with the kids. We made it work, however the facilities downstairs werent as nice as upstairs. So was a little frustrating. If I had known this prior to arrival I may have chosen different accomodation. Things like toilet paper, and washing detergent were at a minimum. The toilets had the 1 roll on the holder plus 1 additional. Something to bare in mind as youll need to purchase as we did if your staying more than a couple of days. We also had to purchase washing detergent, and bench spray for cleaning the benches.
