Was made to feel very welcome by both Helena and Fred, and thoroughly enjoyed my short stay

Location was just a few steps from Morningside train station - very convenient for travel into (nearby) Auckland city centre and surroundings. If new to Auckland, be aware that you need a pre-paid HOP card (available for from most convenience stores ["dairies"]) before travelling on public transport. After that it's simple to "tag" on electronically on either buses or trains, remembering to "tag" off as you end your journey - when your HOP card is automatically debited

Auckland city traffic is a nightmare ! Otherwise no complaints

Great Auckland

Excellent host, very friendly and shared great local knowledge. Excellent communication, made arrival very easy and hassle free. Apartment exactly as described, really comfortable place to stay. Room had lots of little extras, plenty of sockets and a comfortable bed. Bathroom was spotless, shower had great water pressure. Surrounded by local amenities, everything you could possibly need. Fred was awesome and a real character. Quite happy spending his days snoozing. Wouldnt hesitate to recommend and next time I'm in Auckland I'll be sure to stay here again.

The location is great! Walking to the city center takes around 2 hours and Mount Eden around 45 minutes. However, if you're not feeling like a long walk, the bus stop and train station are very close by and connect well. There is also a big mall on walking distance. Helena, the host, is very friendly and has so many stories to share. If you have some spare time, it is wonderful to spend some time with her. Even if she is unavailable, big ol' slobbery Fred is there to keep you company. Fortunately, Helena has a positive attitude towards sustainability. The bed was very comfortable and having a spacy private bathroom was also a positive surprise (it is not shared, but somehow it cannot be changed on Booking.com). Although I only cooked once, the kitchen is fully equipped. Sharing the house with a host is not the same experience as a hotel or hostel, but somewhere inbetween. I can recommend it.

Not much to say here to be honest. The trains were out of service the day I arrived, but that is just unfortunate. Just make sure you don't mind staying in a house with a nosy bulldog!

Very good

Helen- amazing host. Ran an errand, showed me around town, had coffee together on my last day. Fred!

Location was close to Mt Eden and New North Road - which had tonnes of eateries and quaint little cafes. I enjoyed my stay as I got to have insightful chats with Helen, make a trip for an errand as Helen showed me around Auckland as well. Thank you so very much! I'll miss Fred too!

Nothing - it was a pleasant stay and I could help myself to tea :D and had great banter and lovely company.

Excellence when portrayed and shown in its definitive best is worthy of a 10 out of 10 score!!

We loved Fred.!!! We loved our host and we loved the comfort and relaxed life style. It was easy and it was flexible. Simply it was the highlight of our trip! We came to attend the death of a family member and staying here made it so much more easy to step away from that drama and just sit back and enjoy the company of our host and enjoy her big beautiful bulldog Fred who clearly lets his character shine through and is really such a big loveable sissy who just likes everything his way.! And quite rightfully!!

Best hosts in NZ

Helena and Fred were the best hosts! Great location (metro stop and cafes are right outside), quiet neighbourhood and secure parking outside the apartment. Couldn't ask for more. Helena was very helpful with her tips and we loved our chats together - we were sad to leave!
