Not worth the price

It has direct access to beach, the garden is pleasant and the staff is very helpful. There is a restaurant thou you can find better and cheaper food just down the road.

The part of beach it accesses to is dirty and not well kept. We had tons of mosquitos inside the room when we arrived - the staff sprayed them, which meant we had tons of dead mosquitos in the rooms during our stay (plus we found a cockroach in the room). There was no hot water during the afternoons and night, so we could only shower properly on one morning. Flush was broken and the bathroom lighting was terrible. Taxi to airport was more than four times the price of Uber (we decided for it because we had an early flight, but there was no need for it as there were other available cars - just order Uber).

Nice garden, access to the beach, very friendly staff, good food

The family room is located outside the main property, accessed through a different gate via the main road. The facilities there are clearly of a lower standard than the main location.

Very good

Amazing food with an incredible cook. The waiters and service personnel was so helpful and provided first class service! The decors and garden is first class.

Coming from abroad we did not know how important mosquitoes nets are in Sri Lanka. Though the rooms where super lovely the mosquitoes nets had holes and we suffered through 3 nights being bitten quite badly, hence our sleep was not restful. We should have mentioned this sooner to the manager.

The best part of the Icebear is the people that work there! They are all fabulous and will go above and beyond to help out. The rooms are lovely and the food is absolutely delicious. We actually stayed at the Icebear on 3 separate occasions whilst staying in Sri Lanka. Cristi has been there for 20 years and nothing is too much trouble. Friends made - we will definitely stay here when we return to Sri Lanka - even if it is just to say hello to everyone. The walk into the more lively part of the town (or more touristy) is out of the entrance and to the left and if you turn right, then you can walk into the markets, the local down and see all the fishing industry. The icebear part is lovely and quiet though.

Dont get fooled by pictures

It doesnt looks like the same on the picture, I think the property very old . Room smells funny , very minimum facility, not enough water in the shower even water is cold . Ive stayed 3 nights here but never use their facility as there is no facility, last time I ordered a beer from the restaurant , beer came in room temperature ( warm ) , Im glad I didnt eat at their restaurant.

Superb

A very cool place with tropical plants, trees, lots of character, friendly and very helpful staff

The proximity to the beach and to the road yet it was peaceful.

The chicken jumping on my shoulder was a bit of a surprise but it was ok, as when shooed away as it was trying to avoid the angry duck which then chased it away!
